Seeking peoples opinion of a Sachs Race clutch - organic friction disc with heat trated cover. Have an option to fit this onto my K1. My tuner says they have a very o/e feel and will easily cope with 400bhp -420lb/ft

Blade - Is that with an uprated flywheel? Having heard some uprated kits, the flywheel noise puts me off somewhat.

Can you PM me info too though please.

Standard flywheel is £276 .Another option which favoured on Mk5golfgti.co.uk forum is a http://www.racinglinetuning.com/ clutch who do a Sachs sintered clutch that works with standard cover and flywheel for about £500.

Thanks very much for the info. Spoke to my tuner today and he has fitted loads of clutches and not changed the flywheel. Apparently he has learned that the degradation you see on the flywheel happens to every standard flywheel and is no cause for concern whatsoever. Never had a failure!

hi just wondering bit of a noob when it comes to clutches, how do you know when the clutch is starting to go i mean is it totally obvious or just slight vibrations. this is pretty much my first high powered car so dont really know what to feel/hear for, thanks in advance.

Put it in to 4th or 5th, floor it. If it starts to slip (ie revs increase and speed does not) then you need a new clutch. Engaging gears may also become harder to do.
