Yes but even though it's now agreed it was the wrong turbo, that still wouldn't explain a 22psi reading at tickover - there should be no boost at tickover unless something is falsely requesting it / making it.

Hope he gets it sorted in the end

Yea, your right Pat. It makes no sence why it would read 22psi on tickover

Think he is going with a different company now..

Would you really want to put a 1749b on when you are going to map it?
With an agressive map the shaft is known to snap and can happen at any mileage. There are reports on SCN of failures at less than 50k, though mine went at 133k which was 20k after I had mine mapped.

He needs a 1749VB to send off for hybrid :)

Car is back to standard now! :D Got my KKK turbo back on and remap - and can I say - I LOVE IT! :D

First chance I had to properly "drive" my car in nearly a month - and I love it! :D The remap really isn't bad either! Just the fact that now I dont have overboosting or limp mode - it's great!

I have read the whole thread, and i can tell you to 99,99% that mapping is faulty.

Overboosting like shown on the video s typical for exceeding MAP sensor reading levels.

The car then generates overboost which is not seen by MAP sensor anymore.

This has nothing to do with wrong turbo, because boost level is always controlled via ECU, WHEN the mapping is done correct.

Your MAP sensor can read exactly 2983mbar absolut, all whats exceeding this level is UNCONTROLLED boost.

If a requested boost level from 1,9bar is programmed, you have not even a 100mbar space to the limit of the sensor.

So if your mapping makes boost spikes, it immedeatly gets into uncontrolled levels.

You can solve this in 2 ways.

Get a remapper who is capable to write your software which doesnt spike out (pre control mapping) and maybe think of a little lower level, like 1,8 bar so that you have at least 183mbar left until the sensor reading exceeds.

Or:
Get a MAP Sensor which is able to control your desired boost levels.

Anyway you need a chiptuner who really is into mapping all over, not only bending around on some mapping parts which look like they could generate power....

Thank you for your interesting input! I didn't realise how close I was running to the map sensor limit! That was a very interesting read! Thank you! :D

Lots of maps run close to the MAP sensor limit mate.

Well thats ok when spiking is under control..., my own mapping also runs at 1,85bar up to 3700revs but without spiking over sensor limit.....

I have tried several tuners, all of them claimed to be "the best" and NONE of them was....

First easy check if remapper done his homework: look at VAGCOM, measuring block 11 and see what requested boost says at WOT....

I love your input, but your knowledge is 0 my friend.... VAG COM requested boost will not read above 2601mbar......

So, a map can be requesting more, but VAG COM will not show this. So, for hybrid mapping logging requested boost using VAG COM is useless.

It seems you should stop trying to teach what you don't know

Oh, thats very funny, why do MY logs with corrected diagnosis mappings show more than 2601mbar....?

This is exactly what i meant with 'doing the homework'....

Hi Alex

I have been doing my homework for 6 years.

Send me your logs to [email protected], I would be interested to see them. If you have above 2601 by changing software and turbo only you have magic vag com ;)

I use normal VAGCOM, Version is 805.2

I see readings above 2601mbar because the software is done correct*g*, it has nothing to do with the turbo, its the diagnosis data which is adapted to the requestet levels in mapping.

Thats also sense of a forum...

I would have been glad to have someone who shows up some unknown functions/possibilitys..., so i dont think it is unavoidable.

Going back to the "22psi at tickover" issue.
I still can't see how this is possible if the turbo isn't spinning. Surely that still points to faulty data from the MAP sensor ?

The turbo will still be spinning even at tickover, just not enough to show positive boost.

Aye, when I say not spinning I mean not really spinning :)

But like you say, not enough to show any positive boost.

So where does 22 psi come from ?

Something not right with the hardware somewhere.....
