had any problems with running rear spacers?

Hello everyone i fitted 20mm spacers 2 the rear of my ibiza fr a couple of days ago but a few people have said that they will put 2 much strain on the wheel bearings is this true? has anyone had any problems with running rear spacers?

They will put extra strain on the bearings, but I doubt it's enough for them to fail. No-one has had any problems sa far as I know :shrug:

As long as you don't put in 50mm spacers or any such foolish thing you'll be all right, 20mm is not an exaggeration and even though it will put some strain, it's nothing the car cannot take. I have friends who've had them on for three, four years now and they never had a problem. The important thing is that they're good quality, and as for everything else, the specific ones ( 5x100) are better than the generic ones.

how will this happen? because my spacers bolt onto the hub, then the wheel onto the spacer so isnt it basically the same?

But you are widening the rear track. The forces the bearings are subjected to are multiplied by the distance from the bearing to the wheel so if you fit spacers, this distance is is increased. But it doesn't mean they put too much strain on them.

good post i been looking about for spacers and ppl say dont do it as it will kill the hubs ect but hey if ppl have had them runnig for a few years it must not all be true i just cant belive you can put 20mm on the mk4 im getting mine this weekend hope she will look meaner lol
