I was just wondering how good the alarm & security of the Factory Standard Cupra is?

If any of you have upgraded - what would you recommend

its already cat 1. Only thing you could add to make it more secure is a blackjaxx

and while it doesnt stop it being nicked, if you wanted to think about trackers, take some time to research this online, as you can get trackers which you fit with a PAYO sim and if you call or text will text you the coordinates of where it is from about £50 :) or even get live tracking of google maps if you know how.

otherwise de-locking would be recommended.

I have started to do some research on tracker trackers - What is de-locking?

Bear with me I'm a bit 'green' on this side.:headhurt:

Delocking is the prcoess of removing the keylocks from the outside of the car as these are a potential point of weakness.

On the Mk1 Leon, it's common practice to leave the boot lock in situ - most people don't relaise there's a key lock there anyway.

Not sure if the MK2 Leon has a boot key lock though - my A3 doesn't which is on the same chassis

The revo security feature is good.
However there is a fair amount of effort required to enable and disable this each time you leave or use the car!

As regards blackjax i thought it could be fitted without a clifford alarm... - now i go to see if i cant find out.

I have confirmed with a local 'in car electrics' centre that you can fit a stand alone blackjax on a seat leon. - quoted £199 all inclusive.

not on a mk2 ....... diagnostic port right by the steering wheel and it's a CAN car so takes all of 2 seconds to switch :)

Yeah I have a disklok but don't pay silly Halfords prices. I was lucky enough to get a new silver one for about £40 delivered on ebay. Bag included.
That is also handy to stop scratches and moving about as you shove it behind a seat.

One of the best secuirty products but it difficult to find these days was a barrier deadlock that fitted on the gearbox and basically locked the car in gear. My mate had one years ago on his Zetec S fiesta and saved a fortune on the insurance. Very tough to get at and remove. Sadly very difficult to find anyone who still fits them. I think they're were made by a local company in Huyton - Liverpool that do not seem to operate anymore:

6 Barrier Deadlock System - £229
Break-in time Pass
This lock won’t be on the shelves of your local branch of Halfords - the Barrier Deadlock system needs to be installed by a professional fitter and as a result, it is an expensive lock to buy. It doesn’t offer much in the way of visual deterrence either. Nevertheless, it is effective, locking the car into reverse, park or neutral depending on the type of car. It’s also simple to use – select the appropriate gear, push in the lock and the car should be secure. Indeed, our testers have yet to defeat it.
Verdict
Impressive protection if you’re willing to spend £229.

Sure my m8 only paid £150 as well, fitted.
