Just been doing some searching and come across a cupra that i'm interested in, but something crossed my mind when looking at the front grill, so i did a search for pre-facelift/facelift on here but nothing came up so i've had to resort to posting!

Can you tell me the difference between these:

to me it looks like the black cupra centre grill is not inserted correct...... or its just the light/shadow making it look like that..... but you can be sure they are all the same...

or if you mean the bottom grills the black cupra has taken them out due to the forge FMIC...

agreed. the grill doesnt look like its in properly, all the mk3's are exactly the same body wise

My thoughts, just wanted to double check as i am a new comer into the scene :)

I knew the bottom grill had been take out for the FMIC, which i dnt mind as i like the looks. I should be viewing it later this week, hopefully it doesn't get sold as quickly as my last one!

PS - being lazy now...but have you got any links for decent exhaust systems? would you recommend a cat-back system or a turbo-back system?

Just noticed something else about the advert, can anyone make better sense of it than me?

"Bad Points-

The gearbox feels rather stiff, however all gears can be found, iv had a mechanic come and a have a quick look he suggested it might require a new master cylinder as not long after purchasing the car i had a new clutch kit and gear box ( receipts to prove)."

I can't quite catch on what hes on about as hes talking about the gearbox being stiff and then the master cylinder might need renewing? That's brakes related isn't it? Correct me if i'm wrong!

The grills pushed back slightly on the black one, mine does it aaaall the time after i've been going over bumps etc. Maybe it only affects black ones....

http://www.supersprint.com/ - i recommend for cat back. fits nicely with the shape of the exhaust hole on the bumper.
Have a look on the trading area on the main forum homepage, youll find a few companies that will be able to sort you out on full systems for a little discount because you are on this forum. :D

Thanks very much mate, i like the looks of the supersprint system :)

If he mentions gearbox related issues I'd avoid like aids, even if it sounds minor. Plenty of nice examples out there, just got to be patient :)

Whys that? Is it not simple to source and change a gearbox? He has proof of a new clutch etc. He doesn't seem to have his facts right at all so it might be nothing! I think a test drive is in order for a final decision!

Gearboxes aren!t cheap mate.

I'm sure you'll be wanting to spend £500 on mods rather than on a box just to keep it running

As you say, test drive needed. Check gears when car cold and warmed up. Give it some (if you drive) and listen when you stop.

I spoke to him on the phone and and the clutch is apparently low down, so i'm going to avoid it as i don't really fancy fixing it as i don't have the time! Although i've come across an Onvi with 46k on the clock, standard and owned by an old man from new...so i think thats more of interested to me!

Then i have a cat-back, coilovers, FMIC, DV lined up so i'm looking forward to it! Still learning about the engine though, so i'm taking it slow and surely!

;)
