Alrite lads. I have a question, I got a Cupra 180, on an 05 plate, and i have had a few 'duels' recently with cars such as Audi S3 (Y reg) and Astra VXR 56 plate, and have come out on top in both races (on private roads obviously) is this normal or could my car be re-mapped??

The only way to tell if its remapped is tto either fit a boost gauge or log requested Vs actuale boost via vag-com.

No, the Cupra 180 is just a fast car :)

Seriosuly tho, its hard to tell if there's no paperwork...does it have any other mods such as a non-OEM panel filter, dump valve etc. ?

no completely std, havent checked the fillter tho in all fairness. Too be honest the Audi driver said it was the 225bhp version, but i recall the earlier S3 was only 210bhp, plus the extra weight of the S3 over the Cupra (power to weight). The Astra was four car lengths+ behind, the S3 six or more....

I was impressed tho tbh.

Is it the same engine in the Cupra as the Audi TT 180??

Yea same engine but I think the turbo might be K03 instead of the K03s with the larger compresser bore.

You will have to change your forum name if it has been mapped ;)

im running 238bhp and they still stick with me so id put it down to the vxr driver not trying

I did think this originally, but i know both the drivers in question, and i had a chat with the the VXR driver, and his first words where f**king hell, is that std?? He hit the limitor a few times while we where on the stretch of road in question, maybe this could have slowed him down??

The VXR doesn't have that much torque compared to the 1.8T. I'm running same BHP as a VXR but 40 lb/ft more torque.

the VXR has about 60lb/ft more than the 1.8T Cupra and the same difference in power when they're both standard but with little difference in weight. I can't see a standard Cupra pulling 4 car lengths on a standard VXR

Yea I agree, if it is standard. But I'm saying the VXR engine isn't as torquey as the 1.8T when mapped. ie. a 240 bhp 1.8T equates to ~40 lb/ft more torque than the VXR engine. So if the Cupra has been re-mapped, it's not out of the question
