I have finally sorted out my hotside pipework to just how I want it. After doing some cutting of pipes and modifying of brackets etc. it's all done. I have gone with 2.25" (57mm) hotside and 2.5" (63mm) coldside pipework as this is what most kits and people go with. I used JB Weld to create beads on the pipes to stop them blowing off. I modified an LCR rear pipe bracket to sit in a different place, sprayed it satin black (PJ1 engine paint) and it fits great, all the pipes are very well held now.

Hoses are Roose Motorsport silver. SEM should be going back on next week as INA and SEM are sending me the 70mm TB and adapter plate express delivery and Forge are making an adapter plate for the stock TB, so I'll have 2 options instead of the 80mm TB.

Big turbo kit will have to wait as the SEM problems seem to be sorting out now and also I ended up re-fitting the Pro Alloy intercooler too - due to the front end handling badly due to my improvised crash bar, wasn't strong enough. As I carry my kids in the car, safety is very important.

I also took off my oil catch tank and resprayed it in satin black too. Coldside hoses will be finished when the SEM goes back on.

Rob did you use the weld paste on the polished surface (keying it up first) or did you use the weld paste then polish the pipes? As ive been after putting an actual weld bead on my feel pipe as it keeps blowing off.

Also Rob be careful of those jubilee clips as i found they killed a silicon pipe on my car when they cut in, it cut through the holes that grip etc.

Looking great as ever tho!

Keyed first to get the best grip (used a dremel and wire brush attachment around the end of the pipe), left overnight to harden, seemed rock solid today and not wanting to budge. I've done it before they've been solid, never came off.

Got the last of the powdercoated parts back today, I had the towing eye and engine bracket done in red, and the last of the pipes done in the sparkly silver:

This REALLY sparkles in the sun!

I started to machine polish the paintwork today too, so far Menzerna 85RD on a polishing pad is taking out all the light defects leaving a very sharp, swirl-free finish. SHould have all the machining done this weekend.

Erm ... yeah.

Anyway, parts for the SEM should be here mid-week so I'll get the SEM back on and hopefully running problem-free this time.

I have managed to paint the 'SEM Motorsports' raised logo on the manifold in gloss black neatly (using a touch up paint pen), looks great! Pics very soon.

Here's pics of the latest stuff. I managed to carefully paint the SEM logo in gloss black:

The throttle body adapter plate from Forge arrived too, this will allow the stock TB to be fitted to the SEM manifold, hopefully eliminating all the issues the 80mm TB caused:

Looking good Rob, with a swirl free car your going to be a proud man.

Will you change the turbo this year or will it be a winter project for next year?
Will you get the car remapped once happy that everything is working well?
I heard a rumour that Jim wasn't interested in the 1.8T anymore
