I hit 381lb/ft on AmD's rollers. I doubt the car would produce anymore than that on the 150 injectors.

Turbo dynamics have been in touch with me.

They're replied with:

"Hi Ashley,
We would like to start with the most important issue, the turbocharger is not designed to run 30 psi let alone 35 psi, the turbocharger will fail at these levels, the mapper should be addressing this as soon as possible. We would expect that the torque and horsepower would actually go up with less boost, in our experience as boost levels above 1.8 - 1.9 bar actually achieve the best figures. Anything above this creates far to much heat particularly with the standard intercooler, hence the performance drops."

As you can see, if my boost gauge is accurate - I'm getting 30psi and over of boost. So either my boost gauge is wrong, or I'm packing too much punch which may actually be a power loss rather than a gain and explain why it's gone into limp mode a few times....

Hi Ashley

Did you not get my PM? I already told you 30+psi is to much.

The remap is set at 1.9 bar, which is 27psi. You should not be hitting 30+ Either the gauge is not accurate, or we need to get the car in to find the fault

i would say run vag com on it to get true boost readings?? then get back to will if they say the same as the guage

I dont have access to vagcom fella. I can find out on Thursday as that's when I'm gonna hopefully plug it in. Like I say, when I plugged a mates scan gauge in, it said I was doing 22.3psi on tickover. Then he plugged it back into his car and it said 0psi. So there must be something with my car!

this is very intresting! i had made another thread about my boost peaks a few months ago! wondering as to why it would go off scale at 2.2 bar on a standard turbo demapped! i found the problem, it was a 3mm gash in the pipe coming out of the turbo pipe!

so while my hybrid was getting done i ordered a replacement pipe! then after running the turbo in for a while about 200 miles in i give it a wee burst and it went to 1.8 bar and leveled a fraction over 1.6 bar, again this was on the bog standard map!

pretty impressed as it was finally reading accurately :) on the defi guages!

after mapping it i put on a basic map to run with the turbo and its pretty impressive
it boosts to 2.2 for a split second then levels at 1.9 bar and stays there! power is very responsive at 2500 and kickes in again at 3000 and 3rdly at 3800!

i actually had a wee run against a RX7 on friday! it went well:p

Well today I decided to try to go to Santa Pod. Not to run. To go for a nice day out. 20 minutes into the drive, limp mode. Then limp mode again just over an hour later. Then twice on the way home. Not only is this now TOTALLY undriveable, but it's f**king me off! I honestly don't believe I can get back to Performance Torque to get it checked over as the bloody thing won't go up hills! And it's all uphill getting there. I'm screwed! Gonna have to book a f**king flat bed to pick the peace of sh1t up!

It's just dangerous!

The boost needle now isnt even reading steady! If I boost near or just over 20psi (i havent gone over 25psi or even near it unless i need to -e.g. pulling up a hill). The needle now judders up the boost around the 20psi mark. I half wonder if my turbo is shagged now. Afterall, it was running 30+psi for 200 miles or so so must be pretty "overboosted."

sooty22 took me out in his big turbo Ibiza PD130 at Santa Pod and all I can say is that I'm missing out. His IS how you'd imagine a big turbo Ibiza to be. The (allards) turbo is so loud, the boost is perfect. The power delivery is there - manic power and holds it. 230bhp and like 370-380ft/lb. Holds you back in the seat and is must more "on the pedal" than mine. The difference is just night and day.

Off to Allards for a remap?
