ive read with intrest people having boosting issues over the last couple of days, i thought i had the same problem, a faulty n75. but im not sure, what do you think?

Senario: last week, engine sounds poorly, vagcom says 16684, i realise this is coilpacks... as im changing the coil packs (all 4) i notice that the new ones are a bit shorter and look completely different and are bolt down ones, i got them from eurocarparts.com, i carry on and start the engine, SUCCESS!!

or so i thought, took it for a test drive first gear fine 2nd gear fine, 3rd i get like a BRRRRR noise at 3500 revs same in 4th and engine management light is flashing,

vagcom again and 16684 again!!! could this be the wrong coilpacks? or should i change the spark plugs or is it something else? N75??

please please help

Hi, my N75 is on it's way out, but that is not the things that happen - not that i'd say that was the case...

Nothing wrong with bolt down coils vs push down coils on these engines, but they need to be the correct ones, im pretty sure the part number you want is 06B905115E

Not sure if ECP are the best for coils...I may be wrong im sure someone will correct if so, I went to dealers for mine.

Try different spark plugs, what have you got in there? I use NGK PFR6Q plugs, but others use IK22's.

Could well be the spark plug in cylinder 1 is knackered.

One way, would be to try the spark plug in 1, in cylinder 2, and see if it comes up with a code for that cyllinder.

But to be honest, by doing that your halfway towards replacing the spark plugs anyway, so it's probably worth just changing them to eliminate that possibility.

Especially if they have been on the car a while...

to be honest ive had it 2 years and ive never changed the spark plugs, probably worth changing as who knows how long they have been in there

would it idle and drive normal with a dodgey spark plug tho? by normal i mean driving conservatively

is there anthing else it could be?

2 years! Yikes! They cheap mate, get a new set in there no matter what :)

The plug could be failing under load, i'd say the coils usually would do this but would be strange as you replaced them.

Change the plugs tommorow if you can, then see how it goes, it a win-win as you need them changed! :p

plugs last a good milege but i would av changed them as soon as it started missing intermittantly under load

could be one of the new coils was dodgy but i'd swap the plugs too, 10-15quid and takes 30mins to do yourself..so might as well
