Bizarre MAF behaviour

Morning peeps,

I've been playing around with VAG-Com over past few days recording power runs with different air filters to find which performs the the best and I have come across a bizarre reading which is appearing regardless of which filter I have setup when logging block 003 on the Mass Flo g/s column.

The reading suddenly drops to 0 for one or two blocks at a time and then returns to normal flow rate. This hppens anywhere in the rev range but the car doesn't feel to bad? The reason this is bizarre to me is that even with the car idling the engine is still drawing air.

Signs of a MAF on its way out?

That was my thinking anyway but folks here know a lot me than me....

Try doing a power run with the MAF unplugged and see what the log loos like then. If it does not do it it could be the MAF dieing.

IIRC the last time I checked MAF reading while idling I was seeing ~3g/s.

Thanks for the advice Damien tried doing a power run in the MAF unplugged but as soon as I unplugged it the engine ran rough as hell and figures were well off.
Strange thing is with an open filter and everything connected I'm getting some good figures, 204g/s on last power run, but then the next block drops down to zero.

I'd let off the power as you can see when it dropped but surely shouldn't this show something at least the same figure as when at idle, aroung 3g/s as Damien said
Any ideas??
