Realistically, whats it worth? 2007 Leon Cupra TFSi with 20,000 miles

I am thinking £11-£12k in a private sale?

Why? I am considering my options which include getting a company Mondeo TDCi in place of the Leon 1.6 and one of these in place of the Cupra;

all it would take is a tuned cupra to give u a traffic light grand prix and u will regret buying it big time.

Hope you have deep pockets if you plan to use it much. I had a standard (new) one which was very reliable and traded it for a modified car which was the most troublesome car I've ever owned. Very rarely ran properly and cost an absolute fortune just trying to get it to run right (it was already modified). If you buy a modified car be very careful who did the work....I did the rounds and the best tuner I came across (who finally sorted my car) was Mark Shead/MA Developments. Had Evo's ever since and they are a paragon of reliability in comparison

£11K to £12K sounds realistic but it could take a while to sell.

Mine which I got shot of in October is still up for sale at a SEAT dealer. 14K miles SEAT approved and all that and they can't seem to shift it. Prices keeps getting lower and lower.

Traffic light grand prix would go in the Cossies favour vs a MK2 Leon Cupra - trust me.

Its not so much about performance though. For sure its an old car now, and with it the niggles, problems faults, rust and other issues, but it is a rare modern classic and with a bit of work done, it could show the Cupra a clean pair of heels.

Not sure I would go the whole hog with modications, but they sound mental with the right bits on it. Interesting info there about MA Developments. Werent GGR and BBR good with Cossies too?

Oh yes, and with regard to colour, it would be Imperial Blue (first choice) or possibly Petrol Blue. However the right car would get my money regardless of colour.

Not sure how many on here might agree with me, but personally, I still think the Cossie looks awesome, especially in Imperial Blue

Also driven by vicki henderson around angersley coastal both in damp conditions, it got beaten by a mk5 gti.

You have to remember that they have a similiar weight, but he cossie makes less power and has greater transmission losses. 10 15 years ago it was a mighty quick car, lke the original audi quattro was, but in 2009 there are faster fwd hothatches.

I still think you should go for it. My dream is to own a original quattro sport, and if not that a audi s2!

Very purposeful cars but as said, not the top of the tree where they used to be. You would have to through some serious cash at it to make you smile as much as you do in the Cupra.
Better teraction potential but your car with a Quaife diff would seriously give a well tuned one a hard time.

djhorace, have you driven an Escort Cossie to find out what they're like?

As said they were quick in their day but technology wise could be as much as 20 years behind the Cupra as they are essentially based round a Ford Sierra chassis.

If you can get a mint one I would say go for it, but there are too many fakes about and quite a lot of sheds as well.

I walked past an RS2000 from a similar era yesterday and it looked rough, hopefully most Cossie owners have looked after theirs better.

Didn't one of the TV programs or magazines race a Focus ST against a Cossie a few years ago?, might give some comparison of how the Cupra would compare.

It says to me cheap, nasty, boy racer, burberry, sovereign rings, big chunky yellow gold jewelery and hanging out at the local McDonalds car park on a Friday night.

Each to their own though.

I certainly have driven one, and yes they are a tad agricultural compared to the Cupra but they are still awesome in my mind . I am not sure that they are a chav car though given that even the older scabbier variants are worth more than quite a few MK2 Leon Cupras less than 2 years old. It is generally enthusiasts that have them now or other people in a crisis situation like me I guess

With regard to performance I am sure a mapped Cupra would be more cracking than a non mapped one and quicker than a mapped Cossie, but its not the performance I am looking for. Ultimately however, with money spent on both cars, the Cossie would whack the Cupra.
