just a quick one, can you put atmospheric dump valves onto the 1.8t engines?
cheers

In a word - NO. A few have reported doing it successfully but the engine is not designed to run an atmospheric dump valve. It will be interpreted as a boost leak and it will cause no end of problems. You can have a 50/50 atmos/recirc valve but the general consensus is that its not worth the effort for the sound produced. If you want a louder "pshhht" sound, but an open cone air filter induction kit and a piston type recirc valve like a Forge 007P. You will never get jap turbo type dump sounds from a 1.8T

he is right, but as said a big open cone and a 007p can sound good enough :)

i have amd's open cone filter thast sits right down the lower left front behind the wheel arch and 007p also just removed the sound proofing from the bonnet gf / mates seem to think its pretty loud.

Heard that the loudest one thou is the turbosmart dual port there is a word after turbosmart that begins with a k just cant put me finger on what it is but im sure someone will be able to tell u should you need to no sorry.

The Forge valve 007P is great on your 1.8T
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=1703&product=FMCL007P
This type of valve is a single piston , single spring diverter valve, it is
silent in operation.
It locates in the same position as your original black plastic Bosch valve ,
It will not give you any issues or check engine lights .

The Forge 007P valves are a two piece valve which are serve and guaranteed for

or we have the Split R
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=1703DV&product=FMDVSPLTR
The Split R valve design will automatically keep the MAF and ECU happy with regards to fault codes. It has a restricted Atmospheric port to the correct percentage for this reason.

The choice is yours they both work well
