I have only found one smooth bump strips thread and it dont say how it was done as i was wondering if you can get them plastic welded so they wont crack like filler

This is the thread that i seen there was a real nice orange one with smooth doors and hooch front bumper.

Was thinking of buying a plastic welder off flea bay to do the lines that go around the bottom of the bumpers but i think the bump strips will be to big to do this way

do an advanced search for threads started by Myki da Pyki.

I think there is one where he shows the progress and stages of smoothing his front bumper.

the one from myki is only the lower lines i think! ive been searching also, i cant find anything out! i read that some arosa boys used a soldering iron LOL! im guessing you need a substitute plastic to fill the gap where the bumpstrip was but cant find out what! will see if i can find out what the arosa guys used!

if i had took pictures of me doing mine then i would have done a how to thread!

Basically all you need to do is cut out the recess piece

Bring it forward to where you need it,

Prop it up from behind so it doesnt move, or even use brackets screzed into the bumper to keep it still.

Plastic weld the edges

Now when your smoothing out the plastic welded pieces use a Filler called PLASTIC PADDING, its in a silver tin with a yellow lid, its filler specially for plastic and is really flexible so it wont crack half as easy as regualr filler or fibreglass.

Then when you have smoothed over the lines enough, start using regular bodge to get a better smoother finish.

As for the moulding, i haven't done it yet, but it looks hard. just got a new one from SEAT today so i wil take images of this as i do it!!

Im sorry for the gashness of this so called 'Advice' what with lack of pictures etc.

me an my m8 done a polo in work for my other m8 and the way we done it was 2 pull the moulding off cut around the moulding so you take all the clips off at the back an the moulding still fits but has no clips 2 fix it 2 the bumper and use the plastic u cut of 2 weld in 2 the bumper so you still have the line of the bumper in it so not as much filler is needed took us ages 2 do the rear bumper as it was a learning curve but all come out verry nice in the end and still looks mint 18 months on cant find any pics of it tho.
