Black or Yellow LCR...!?

Hey,

I started a thread awhile ago about buying an LCR, and i've just got around to actually buying one and just turned 20 so the insurance has come right down :lol:

Now there's a Yellow one with lower mileage and on a newer plate, but cost more... 7.5k

Or there's a Black one with higher mileage [Still not actually high] which costs less... 6.5k

Now i really like black on the LCR, but have always wanted the Yellow LCR as it seems like the perfect colour and its also got Black LCR alloys so it does look better the black LCR.

Was wondering if you have a black or yellow Cupra r and regret it or if there are the other colours that maybe i overlooked...? and also resale value's etc.

Also i havn't test driven these two cars yet, but i have test driven an 01 S3 just the other day and was wondering am i going to be gutted about buying the Cupra over it..

Cheers guys.

If its the older s3 then you wont regret getting the LCR over it, if its the newer s3 then i would go for that, love the new s3, but the older s3 isnt as good as the leon cupra r.

And i have heard that the yellow ones fade over time.

If you have a porter cable or access to one then get the black! :D
Saying that, if you went over a yellow LCR then that would restore the paintwork.

Funnily enough i am in a similair boat, i can't decide between yellow or black, they both look awesome. Although i am some way off having enough for an LCR, good for decision making, bad for patience!
My Leon is flash red and thats a nice alternative, looks great on LCR's aswell.

It was the 2001 210bhp Quattro Audi, Not as quick as i'd though probably due to it weighing the same as a HGV with the 4x4 but did it ever go round corners well, plus the interior was the nicest place to be with the electric recaros and bose sound system. It just didn't stand out as a nice aggressive looking hatchback, more of an old man wearing nike air's type thing.

The black did have some swirls which as i know as my last car was black its really hard to keep it clean without making them visible, sure i could sort out the swirls over a good weekend though.

The yellow is on a 04 so thought it had a better clearcost then the earlier ones or am i talking cr@p? though the yellow really did shine nicely.

^^ i saw a LCR in red the other day, didn't think it would suit but it looked really good rolling past and it wasn't clean. I think the Cupra R is one of the only cars on the road you can really look at and think it looks like a mean bit of kit without costing 50k, even in panzy yellow, like i said the audi was just to boring and safe for me i think, will have to save my audi owning experience to an RS4 or RS6 in afew years lol

Well nope its the same power but weighs alot more, bose is nice but the seat sound system isnt too bad really. Working for audi have test driven all of them and there isnt really an old s3 that compares to my LCR. However i would love the new s3!

Also... get a silver one, no paint problems and cleans so easy

I think if you kept on top of cleaning a black car it wouldnt be a problem.
Surely once it was PC'd and waxed you could then just cover it in snow foam (again if you have the tools) every week to keep it clean? Obviously that depends on how dirty it would get in a week. I can sometimes get away with it.
That would reduce contact you make with the car through a washmit.

I've never owned or regulary cleaned a black car, so i dont know how hard they are to keep clean. Just a thought though.

yes that is correct, however the R seats are comfier I find.

Only if you get the proper 'R' recaros - if not the S3 ones are definitely nicer, also Mk4 Golf seats fit .... as do the Mk4 Konig seats from the R32.

You can fit the illuminated dash vents from the S3 too as well as the W8 light from the Mk4 Golf.

Even though the Mk2 Cupra is 'better' in most areas than the Mk1 LCR ..... if i had to change my derv for a 'new' car it would be a Mk1 LCR - not least because of how cheap they have become.

I think that £ for £ you get better overall value from the LCR than from the S3.

To be fair the seat sound system isn't going to be any worst then what was in my MK2 golf GTI and thats when you could hear it over the exhaust.

The R seats do look comfy, and the electric recaros are just a novelty, i wouldn't fit them to the R as i think they'd look out of place.

Silver does seem alright buy my work van is silver and i see that enough through out the day, not sure i want it on my own car.

True about the £ for £ on the S3, alot of money for alot of car but the cupra beats it mainly becasue alot of the kit on the audi won't get used by me.

I do a 1 mile commute to work every weekday so the car only gets driven in the evenings weekends, infact if i bring the van home it will on get used in the evenings/weekends = doesn't get dirty and gets washed down most days with the shell jet wash as i get tokens for the van. [the manky brush won't ever go buy any of my cars, only the van lol]

Mine arent recaros. and i prefer them to the leather recaros in the s3, just comfier and nicer looking, now some seats you do want are the rs4 leather buckets ;)

£1500 spare sir?

I had these which were nicer than the original ones and much more lateral support

However having fitted these, I wouldn't look back - out of interest have you tried a CG-LOCK - I wouldn't drive without one now.

Sorry to hijack the thread but what is snow foam? I've heard of it before but I'm not sure what it is or how it works??

Oh and silver is so easy to clean and IMO looks amazing when it's done!

The audi recaros i tried were the same as above buy black leather and blue alcanta [SP?] centers and heated :p

Can buy it online plugs onto your powerwasher and does above in the vid. Use it as a presoak and it gets all the dirt of the car nicely.

Havn't got myself one but will invest.
