secondry air pump?

Hi of late when I have started my cupra from cold it has sounded like a hair dryer at full bore until the warm up cyle has ended at which point the revs drop to around 650/700rpm which is lower than usual.
The car is also hesitant and sluggish until the engine is fully up to temperature so am I right in thinking this is caused by the secondry air pump?
Im also having problems with a persistant boost leak (code 17705) which myself and the local garage are having problems locating, could these two problems be linked?
Thanks in advance Dave

Do LCR's have a secondary air pump? When the Neuspeed was fitted, it came with a connector on the heat shield for the secondary air pump hose to be fitted and a small breather filter (according to the instructions for an Audi TT 225), but the when the OEM airbox was removed, there were no extra hoses.

Not sure about the 210 but the 225 airbox doesn't have the breather hose in it. It's routed differently.
You can remove the whole system to save on future issues and weight saving for the hardcore. RobDon, a few others and I think DPJ has done this.

There is also a fix/guide for the pump if it's making a racket.
It's basically removing the rivets and replacing with nuts bolts to tighten it back up again.

Here you go:

Ok so here it is. Where the heck was the secondary air pump? The airbox literally was unbolted with the only things feeding in to it being the MAF housing and air intake from the bumper.

You can see the extra breather filter and the connector/flange type thing for another hose but there are no hose laying around to connect into it. It's a 210 AMK by the way.

All I know is that the car is otherwise OEM and there are no spare hoses laying around. The car runs fine (touch wood) so maybe there never was one or perhaps, as this kit is for the TT, that's why I do not need to run a hose to the shield.

defo the air pump causing the noise...mines doing the same on my LC.
Stealer quoted £414 to supply and fit!
So if anyone knows where to get the part cheap, let us know!! lol.

mines making a noise too, i've read the guide to replacing the rivets with bolts to keep the pump together and it seems an easy enough fix, i'll get around to it some time when its a bit warmer outside.

Me and a mate tackled the secondry air pump today following the guide posted above. It only had two rivots left holding it together!!
We had no real problems apart from refitting one of the hoses back on the pump which was only awkward due to the closeness of other hoses.
Im happy with the result (no more hair dryer sound effects) and so far the car seems more drivable from cold:D
