It was a sincere compliment, actually. I have an Ibiza FR as well, and I'm trying to do some work on it, so to me having some skill would come in handy, to be honest. :)

Just pulling your leg. :cartman: I don't have that much skill TBH, but its all about having a go! Most of the stuff I have done is very simple really. I wouldn't really touch suspension stuff or major engine work...

Hope you enjoy the FR and its amazing, once you start to mod its very hard to stop!

^So I've noticed! It's quite addictive, just today I bought some paint to do some interior "decoration".

Now to wait for a sunshine day to start... ;)

I want to spray paint the central console, the dashboard and the handbrake surround in glossy black, like the exterior of the car. I've been studying some of the guides to remove the central console alone and it already looks like a job for an electrician!

Wanna help? ;)

I wouldn't want to even start something like that! I reckon the VAG group spend enough time and money on designing interiors to look good. I think you might make it look worse if you start spraying bits. Maybe start with something small like the gear lever surround or the handbrake trim!

I saw some results, people that have done it in a variey of coloours actaully, and it always looks pretty good, if it's done in good taste. I've also seen some major clashes of pink and yellow, but those are the exception really!

If I can find the picture of a guy who did it in black I'll post it so you can see, gimme five minutes.

I found it but I can't post the picture because I don't have 15 posts yet!!! [:@]

Sweet! My only tips with painting is prepare the surface really well (clean and coats of primer) and don't rush the painting (lots of thin coats is best). Use laquer to then preserve your good handy work!

You forgot polishing! I have spray painted things and the finish after the laquer coat has been rubbish (orange peel etc.) After letting the paint dry and a good polish with a bit of T-cut or G3 compound they look perfect...nice n glossy.

Here's how I want it to look when it's done:

I could do the gear lever surrond, doesn't seem too hard to remove and it should give me a good idea of how to work around all the sanding and spraying, just for a bit of practice. Thanks for the advice both to you and Altech.

But I think it's time to get back to -your- car. What's next, after the holiday? :D

The list of future plans includes (in order of probability...)
Tints (rear 3 windows)
Lowering (probably just 30mm springs)
Refurbing and painting wheels black/grey
P-Torque Remap
Uprated front arb

It might get to the stage where I don't see the point of bunging more modding money at it!:cry:
