Leon HIDs

Hey all,
Wanting to get a HID kit for the car, however i do not know what is good or what is bad.
Also would like to know of some good LED bright white sidelights to buy as the ones i have bought for £5 before have always gone faulty in a short time.
So many different kits on ebay.
Can anyone make a suggeste of a goo kit which is decent price.

good quality kits are usually over £100. the most used here are the hids4u ultimate kit, they are about £199 i think. For those you have the option of getting an anti-glare bulb which has a shroud to reduce glare for on coming traffic.
I've got a japanese MTec kit for £159 no anti-glare shroud, but very even light emission. mine required a bit of fiddling about to get the right pattern on the road. this included change the bulbs from right to left and vice versa. it took about a day, but now the light pattern is perfect. really a but of trial and error when setting up HID's after installation.
I'm not sure if the hids4u kit is the same for set-up, but i believe they mayb a little easier as i haven;t read anyone saying anything about a lengthy set-up.

don't get them. the standard Leon lights are NOT designed for HIDs and therefore shouldn't be fitted with them, unless you want to be that **** in the Leon with the stupidly bright lights, like I was for a while until I came to my senses and reverted back to standard.

The anti-glare option is very worthwhile, i have these in and have got flashed less than with std lights! your setup was wrong then, get them set with a light metre and you will be ok. I have the Hids4U kit and was very good quality, look around for a promo code, got mine £170 all in. Side lights, search for PIAA tera 6500k side lights, these are LED but will not throw up a bulb fault code as normal LED will. Pricey though, £50-90 depending where you get them.

they weren't setup wrong. they're just TOO BRIGHT end of. i'm not arguing. why do you think HIDs from the factory come as projector head lights and not massive reflectors like standard lights?? hmm??

I'm sorry but you claim that you used to get flashed for having standard lights?? . . I take it you're one of those who drive round with fog lights on as well? that's probably why, or that you had you full beams on.

Don't have fogs and I hate drivers with fogs on in weather other than fog and heavy rain! No fuill beams, i used to get flashed every now and then, havnt get flashed as much with properly set Hids. Just my opinion on them after use for 3 months (winter too so lights on most journeys).

Never been flashed once here. I don't see the problem if u have reflector headlights with hid kit if u have them set up properly. The new Honda civic had HIDs with reflector headlights albeit with a slight modified bulb shroud. The worse cars with xenons even factory fit ones are 4x4s.
I will however be looking to change my headlights to projector lense versions when they become available as they do look better.

well I really doubt that you were gettin flashed because the other driver thought that your standard headlights were too bright. it's more likely that there was police ahead or something and they were warning you. I've only been flashed once in my Leon history (a good 15K miles - mainly night driving) and that was when I had HIDs in.

Cant takint oaccount road conditions (hills, bumps etc) so wont get into this aruement. My opinion is if you want HIDs, take care when fitting to install correctly, get lights set ASAP and IF you get flashed, set them again/change bulbs. Anti-glare bulb is a good option, only illuminates top half of the reflector as to prevent light being bounced off the bottom of the relector. Works for me and have had no trouble, behind police before and if there was a problem im sure a word would have been had......

when was flashed no police or danger ahead. One explaination is the fact of using higher power bulbs to increase lighting.... these can be bright, had 80w in at one point. Also agree with 4x4's lights can be bright, this can also happen from the auto-leveling system for factory fit hid's.

I also get flashed alot in my leon with the stardard bulbs and no i have not got my fog lights on or main beam.
