After four years of running the "OK" Renault Clio 1.2 16v, My parents finally decided it was time for a new car... After looking through lots of High mileage Golf TDI's, I got bored and decided to show them the light which was the Ibiza...

Trawled through a few garages looking at 100ps "DAB" models and a strange light blue grey 5 door FR and then found this lovely example of a 3 door FR in a rather nice shade of dark grey.

Picked it up on a 57 plate with 17,000 miles for a reasonable price. It has the fantastic 130ps engine (BLT) with the latest software revision which cures the famous "hesitation".
Needless to say, Mother is already mega impressed by it and much prefers it to the clio so excelent result all round!

As the orange paint had started to flake on one of the front indicator bulbs, the car was treated to a set of Philips silver vision bulbs which clean up the headlights a little bit. Needless to say after the fitting my arms/hands were covered in small scratches and speckles of blood.

It's also had a brand new Pipercross panel filter thrown into the airbox to get rid of the rather filthy original paper air filter.

Next weekend it is having the "Ibiza" badge removed from the bootlid and an LCR splitter on the front to give that finishing touch to the bumper.

I've also bought a set of the "Cupra solid bushes" which will be going on in a couple of months time as a bit of preventative maintenance. If I find some well priced springs it may well get lowered at the same time.

:)

I think this is the first 'Mums car thread on SCN!'

It looks like a nice example and sounds like a fair price. Do you get to drive it?

Haha, My mum's pretty cool to be honest... She used to love driving my lupo (lowered about 100mm)

I'll just get her some Eibach springs for mothers day lol...

Haha, It could well be!

I'll only really get to drive it when it's booked in for servicing or any bits being done at Awesome really...

I'm happy enough with my Bora for now:

Photos don't really show the darkness of them for some reason. However they do look quite nice in the flesh/plastic :lol:

So, the parents went away on holiday for two weeks and left me with a bit of cash to sort out a few problems on the car, Mostly the wishbone bushes being a wee bit knackered.

A week later, the car now has Cupra TDI wishbone bushes fitted, a SuperPro Torque arm insert fitted and a nice set of H&R Springs which have really helped to soften up the ride a bit from those ridiculously stiff standard springs!

Got a little bit bored today in the sunshine so decided to remove the de-badged grille and freshen up the standard grille a bit. Whilst doing a bit of painting on the trim around the grille, I also decided to freshen up the engine cover a little too!

No more chrome trim:

Used the same paint on the engine cover as I did on the grille trim:

Just needs a new TDI badge on the engine cover now so it looks nice and O.E. again!

Mods so far:
* Pipercross Panel Filter
* Upgrade headlight bulbs
* Silvervision Indicator bulbs
* Cupra TDI Wishbone Bushes
* H&R 35mm Lowering Springs
* SuperPro Poly Torque arm insert
* Custom Grille
* Custom Engine Cover
* De 'Ibiza' badged

I'm gona have to stop doing things to this car. lol.

Thanks to Seat Cupra.net member 'Bean' The car is now sporting it's new Dark Red tail lights :) Suits the dark grey bodywork much better than the Standard 'FR/Cupra' Silver Grey tail lights!

How are the H&R springs holding up - I'm thinking about some for my FR? Was really wondering what the ride quality is like compared to standard as its my daily driver.

car looks well though - too bad my mum's car isn't quite so nice lol
