Hi, This is my first post here :)

I'm seriously considering getting a new car and have completely fallen for the new Ibiza SC's  :D .. but I have some Questions:

The 1.9 turbo and the 1.6 both have the same power rating, but I've read that the petrols feel 'breathless' would the diesel feel different (really strugling to find any reviews or such liek on the 1.9 :S) I have a test drive booked for a 1.9 next Sat (28/2) So I'll be able to form my own opinion then, just looking for a heads up really. (Either would be a step up from the 70ish bhp 1.3 corsa i currently have I'm just wondering which of those two would be better?)

I'd be looking at getting it on finance, does anyone know what the finance would be like on the 1.9? (similar to the advertised offer on the 1.4?)

I want the ipod connector for the car, does anyone know if this is compatable with the iphone? I know it's the same port ont he ipod touch and the iphone, but there are some accesories that don't work the iphone but do with the ipod's :S its weird, and i can't figure out why...

Thanks,
-Cyph

Ya'd hav to test drive both really to get an idea. The diesels power comes in a large dollop low down and dies off and the petrol is smooth with its power building as the revs rise.
Drive both of them to see whats your preference ;)
Iv a feelin the petrol could just about beat the diesel in a straight line.

The petrol will feel gutless and out of breath compared to the diesel in any gear at any speed.
Any reason why you say this? a preference to diesel? personal experience ... etc

It's exactly the kind of answer i was looking for, but a bit of a reason would be good ;) thanks tho. (hope this isn't sounding dis-respectful! :S )

I find it really hard to pick between petrol and diesel. If ya rev the petrol and use it properly it will be a bit quicker. When I say that i mean barely any difference in the long run might be a couple of feet over 1/4mile.
I like both engines. I have a 1.6 petrol MK2 Leon and my best friend has a 1.9TDi. Been honest i find the diesel easier too drive and much better in traffic and for overtakin(without havin to change down), but for out right flat out drivin the petrol is better.
The 2 engines have a different nature and driving style. They both hav strengths and weaknesses but ya'll just hav to decide for urself what suites urself best.
If I was pickin between the two right now it would be the diesel cause it can be tuned higher and its tax is lower(here anyway)

Yeah it's in the cheaper tax band here too, and for some reason it's slightly cheaper for me to insure the diesel over the petrol ?! I think im more inclined to go diesel again, I drove a petrol the other day and find myself over-reving petrols ... So to save having to change how i drive a diesel would be best!

I think I'll see if I can try both :D

Cheers,

Try driving one, you'll find the TDI a lot more responsive.

It's also cheaper to tax, insure and is a lot more economic also. :)

the diesel will be laggy, then ok, and then run out of breath mch quicker than the petrol. Stock for stock the 1.6 will be faster.

Just a note to say we are offering discount on the 1.9 TDi Ibiza's too
and we can look into a great finance deal for you

I've driven my friends highly Modded seat leon 1.4TSI which is currently faster than my un-modded 1.9TDI however mines more exciting to drive as the power feels like a kick in a pants rather than a smooth gentle acceleration through the gears.

I'm sticking with TDI's

I drove a new 1.4 on at, and a 1.9 (the 1.9 was in a leon as they have no ibizas with the 1.9 in atm)

loved the 1.9 so much i was tempted by the leon! But needless to say I have a 1.9 ibiza SC on order... longest 8 weeks ever, i rekon.

Is the 1.4TSi available for the seat ibiza sc? I thought it was just a 'standard' 1.4?

I think the 1.9TDi (same as the new leon) has good scope for tuning (i.e. re-map) but i think i'll keep the car std for a year or so ... right now I have no real intention of doing anything to my baby ;)
