Hi,

A mate of mine has just bought a Seat Leon Diesel (90hp?).

He recons it might have been remapped, as is seems to go so well (book say 0-60 in 12 seconds and he’s getting there in under 10).

Is there any easy way to check this?

Cheers for your help!

Leon Mk Is had a range of diesel engines from 90 to 170bhp

Can we know a little bit more about this car?

The year would be a good start. Better would be the engine code, found on a sticker in the service book, a copy of which is stuck to the boot floor underneath the carpet. Should look a bit like this.

I'm sure Muttley just did a typo. besides the OP already states 90BHP

back to topic, unless there is any history stating a remap it would be hard to tell... remember when the speedo hits 60mph the car is doing slightly less so it is probably standard.

You're all correct, of course, the Mk 1 only went up to 150 BHP.

Squintstream specified Leon Diesel (90hp?) Didn't say Mk 1 or Mk 2, though I suspect he means Mk 1. An he's not sure about the 90hp. Hence my question . . . . .

Thanks for all the replies.

It's a Mk 1, 1.9TDI on a 52 plate.

Had a drive last night and it seems to go well for only 90hp.

Although I thought it may be difficult to tell if it had been remapped :(

Fitted him a fabia rear wiper and helped fixed the rear washer jet. The pipe had popped off under the boot trim and at the reservoir

Cheers,

On a 52 plate it could be a 90, 110 or 130 bhp diesel.

You could do worse than to look at the badge on the boot. If the TDI has a red I then you can expect the engine to be 110 bhp. If it has a red D and a red I then you can expect 130 bhp.

Of course this is just a badge, and people have been known to change the badge as a sort of cosmetic upgrade. But it is a start.

Other than that, we really need to know what engine is inside the bonnet, by finding out the engine code.
