its time to upgrade my brakes. im goin to get it all upgraded minus upgraded calipers.

steel braided hoses, race fluid and ds2500 pads are on the cards but unsure on what discs to go for.

am i right in thinkin standard discs are VAG discs designed for the brembo calipers not actually brembo discs? i want to upgrade my discs and i want to know what are the best options. i want grooved and drilled so is it best to buy them like this or buy standard discs and get them drilled/grooved after?

any recommendations?

cheers

I was told by my garage that if you put race grade brake fluid in you will need to change all the seals in the braking system :-o this is because the fluid attacks the rubber in the seals so i didn't bother with this:(

What a complete crok of sh1t

Hope you did'nt believe that... shows you how much those "experts" know.

Never mix dot 5 with any fluid, but dot 4, dot 5.1 etc are all fine.

Most high temp, "race" fluids are dot 4, which is the same as the factory fitted... but not all dot 4's are created equal hence race fluids having much higher boil point

VAG 323x28 Disks are genuine Brembo disks in VAG wrappers. (zinc sprayed inner and edges)

EBc plains are the cheapest about, and also grooved available also (ultimax)
all this is listed in badger5 section

not necessarily looking for cheapest though im looking for quality. EBC grooved any good?

if VAG discs are brembos surely they must be pretty good! isnt it worth getting standard discs then getting them grooved and drilled?

Ok well at least i know now, and to look for another garage, bit gutted as its a missed opportunity to have upgraded as i had to have a brake pipe changed..

you can get brembo's grooved for sure. i do eliptically grooved grooving on these for £25/disk+vat

EBC ultimax work well with ds2500 pads also as another grooved option,

In your first post you said about braided hoses, You've already got them mate ;)

Bill can the discs be grooved if they have already been used ??? mine have done about 500 miles ???

I fitted EBC standard discs all round on my LCR, with red stuff pads. They do perform well then are warmed up, but when cold they are not that good. The most annoying factor is the noise the pads make! :( Not only that, it didn't take long for them to look old and rusty.

To be honest, I wish I had gone for standard Brembos now!

Yes mate thery are braided, they are coated with a rubber coating.

have a look at SERE MOTORS on here, he's a dealer in Northen Ireland and he is VERY cheap, I'v got the plain Brembo discs with Ds2500 and they are great

prices look good...where can i get them drilled and grooved after? any recommendations?

Bill Badger4 can do them or you can send them to Hi-Spec in Dartford, they are about the same price.

You can't drill them after the disc has been cast, and the cheap one's are prone the crack.
