Yellowstuff Pads LCR

Hi,
Has anyone tried the Ebc yellowstuff pads?
Looking to change my discs and pads soon, i have ferrodo ds2500's with standard discs at the moment.
I'm looking to go for the ebc ultimax slotted disc's with either yellowstuff pads or ferrodo pads with some better brake fluid.
Any advice on this?
Also should i go for RBF600 or dot 5.1 fluid? My car doesn't go on track but gets a bit of a pasting on the road.

I think the yellow stuff pads are more track focussed than the DS2500's are, probably more like the DS3000's. I doubt you will need more than the RBF600 fluid with EBC Ultimax discs and DS2500 pads.
These stop very well for the price but still think that Brembo discs grooved with DS2500 pads and RBF600 fluid would be better, but I haven't proven this yet.

they just dont seem to have the same initial bite as even the standards have
but dont get me wrong at temp they are pretty good and the wear of them has been good cos had these on for well over a year now!
But think i'll be giving the ferrodos a try now

Also would you recommend RBF600 over Dot 5.1?

They are not truely for road use so it is a little unfair to expect them to have the same bit from cold as each pad has an ideal temp range. Their high temp work is excellent though. I would have thought they were a little too much for normal road use!

Right well i've ordered my new brakes now:

EBC Ultimax (Slotted) Discs. £198.97
Carbotech XP8 Pads. £155
RBF600 Brake Fluid. £12.64 per bottle x3

All being well this setup should stop on a sixpence.

Where did you get these from?

dot 5.1 is just a spec not a make of fluid... temperature rating on rbf600 despite it being dot 4 is higher than pretty much all dot 5.1 fluids, hence it being great for dealing with high abuse.

the difference between dot 4 and dot 5.1 is its hygroscopic nature.. (moisture absorbtion)

EBC yellow are dire.. poor bite, and high disk wear when i used them. very high disk wear. (smeared the disk surface across the disk grooves in a single race meeting)

ds2500 for road use, ds3000 for track use any day. forget ebc pads.. they're not in the same league

if carbotech pads are what i think they are "carbon metallic" then keep an eye out for severe brake dust which eats into wheels and paintwork.

The XP8 pads are fast road pads.
I heard of them a while ago when my brother tried them out on his Evo 5 for them but they didn't do them for the LCR back then so i got the Ferrodo's. I just thought i'd give them a try this time.
I will be fitting the discs and pads myself but getting JKM to do the bleed through.
I got the carbotecs from them direct - 01768 885000 - Ian.
I got the discs and fluid from Bill aka Badger 5 aka ibizacupra.

From what my brother said they do give off more dust than the redstuff which he had previously in his Evo 5 but the dust never tarnished his wheels which were White multispokes.
