Hi guys...

I was thinking more about the weight loss issue as a means to make my Cupra quicker without remap, and reduce it's demand for V-Power.

Below is a list of uneeded items I have removed from the car and the weight saving I made (I weighed each one in turn) ...if you remove lots of items it all adds up as you can see...I saved 3.5 Stone, - much easier than me going on a diet, - thats the weigh of a small child ! ;)

Spare Wheel & Tools = 26lb (replaced by Tyreweld, 1lb, included)

Service books, manual = 2lb

Rear carpets = 3.5lb

Rear Headrests x 3 = 4.5lb

Bonnet sound insulation & clips = 3lb (Estimated)

Reducing washer fluid from 5 to 1L = 9 lb

Various in-car clutter = 3lb

Total weight reduction = 50 lbs (3.6 Stone) = 23 Kg

My car really feels a tad shaper under acceleration and braking now, and my economy and Co2 will be reduced too !

What a very responsible green activist I am, Lol :D

Very interesting, what about the seats.
It would be interesting to see what these weight and how easy it was to remove and replace these as needed.
The fronts have got to weight about 40 lbs each, but after seeing James May driving a car sitting on a wooden bench i wouldn't advise removing the drivers seat. Very funny, another o **** monment

yeah was going to say, 3.6 stone would never weight 100kg's  i must weight almost 400kgs if thats true :roflmao:

was it a space saver you took out?i was contemplating my spare wheel out of my leon but always end up paranoid n stressed!its a full size 16inch steel wheel n pirelli tyre!never been used!haha i mite sell them!

What's next?

Remove air con and stereo system, door cards out, soundproofing out, perspex windows, a bucket seat for you and 3 cushions and some bungie ties for the passengers ;-)

Very interesting concept, as weight is so often overlooked whilst ££££££ are spent on BHP.

Luke, - Yes it was the space saver its not much use anyway.

Hey Coxw...you have a point there...maybe I could offer any chubby passengers a bus ticket instead, Lol ! ;)

Seriously though, I can't strip much more out without turning it into a trackday-only racecar !

If I remove those parts from my Leon I will save 23kg, however, if I also remove the body parts I dont need, namely beer belly, appendix, 1 kidney, hair from my head, hair from my eyebrows (very important!), and potentially one arm as i've got a DSG box so no need to change gear, I could probably make a total saving of about 80kg!

I'm working on that one.

You will still need both arms to operate the flappy paddles. Your left leg, however, is completely superfluous. There may be other dangly bits nearby that you may also consider doing away with.

Haha good point Hugo! I'll get back to you once ive completed my bodily mods!
