kers will be interesting.
they are not all using the same system, however some of the independants are using customer versions.
Williams i believe have gone a completely different route then the others and have a flywheel KERS system, if they get it to work many think this may give an advantage.
however of course KERS systems weigh alot, (batteries or flywheels) and so many will suffer more than others dependant on how easy they can keep the car weight down at the minimum weight limit.
Toyota have confirmed they will NOT start the season with a KERS system at all! - and depending on who you use as a source they will introduce one half way through the season, or not at all!
Regarding the boost buttons, this is nice addition to aid overtaking, however i would say that on many tracks there are only 1 or 2 overtaking spots and so the leading car can anticipate where to use the boost themselves to stop an overtake. I think they are limited to 1 use per lap.
What the video does not clearly highlight is the 'standard ECUs' which all teams have to use. These allow some adjustments, (probably more than most would expect) but the main thing is this allows full and proper control and banning of traction control. It will be interesting to see which drivers talent appears to improve and which drivers value drops!
Jenson is an interesting one, a smooth driver and potentially he may benefit, but of course first he has to have a car to drive...
There is also some interesting arguments currently going on regarding the diffusers. There is now a hight-limit for the diffuser at the rear of the car, the rules appear fairly clear on this. However two teams, (im not 100% sure but i think williams or BMW and toyota) have cleverly designed the rear crash structure around the diffuser which in effect creates a longer higher diffuser!
Oh yes and one more thing... lower wider front wings mean that 'curb jumping' could lead to damage whereas previously the narrower higher wings meant this could be completed without damaging front wings. So chicanes in particular could in affect become 'tighter'. Monza could see a large change in the way drivers approach tha track layout!
It should be a good year.
