FR or TFSI?

Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a mk2 leon either the 2.0 TFSI - 185bhp or the 2.0 TFSI FR.

I am currently driving a VW MK4 GTI Turbo - 15obhp.

my question is:

will I notice a big difference in power if I buy the FR ove the normal TFSI?

As I have never owned a SEAT before, and although its a VAG, what should I look out for with the 2 models above? I am after an 06 plat and above.

The FR has a nicer bumper & slightly different spec

but you won't notice the 12bhp difference. certainly they remap to the same (which is far more important )

I had a TFSI for 18 months before my current FR and too be honest they is hardly any difference, the ride is slightly firmer and the seats harder. In a light colour the FR looks better because of the FR bumpers but if both in Black is harder to spot the difference.

I would drive them both and see what you think, it will be the seats and suspension probably rather than the looks or performance that will be the deciding factor.

technical spec and interior spec wise they are identical. the only real differences being the 'fr' badging anf colours, plus the different bumpers and exhaust tips. You can easily pick up FR bumpers on ebay pretty cheap.

The FR had the option of the 18inch wheels, the sport did not.

The FR has a couple of very minor extra, such as the option of an AUX or ipod in, but this can be retrofitted.

At new prices, when the FR came out, it was £1000 extra, so the sport really was good value.

Most will still be in warranty so there shouldnt be too many problems.

Do they still have the 2.0 TFSI (185hp) on the market in the UK, because in Greece this is not available any more since late 2007 ...??? If you visit a seat dealer the only available are 2.0 FR, Cupra and 1.8 TSI...

No we don't Chris, they phased the 2.0L TFSI Sport out when the 2.0L FR was introduced. But as has been pointed out the OP is looking for a used car.

Though SEAT did also introduce a 1.4TSI Sport which is still available, but that's around 125hp.

as you all have mentioned, apart from the minor looks, they seem very similar.

• My vehicle is a TFSi Sport in metallic black. Registration is LV06 ...
• I am the first and only owner, purchased April 2006
• It has 6xCD and spare wheel as optionally extras from new.
• I have retrofitted sat nav unit and bluetooth
• I got it re-mapped just before Xmas using a device that allows switching maps
• It has a full main dealer service history
• I will be getting it dealer serviced as prep for sale first week in March
• It has no bangs/dings etc
• Has just had 4 brand new tyres fitted (Goodyear GSD3)
• I intend to give it a full machine polish as prep for sale

what trouble?

mainly the appearance if you have an FR then you don't have to waste the cash afterwards for the bumper to be resprayed plus fitting as this is currently what am doing ... FR is so much more nicer to look at than the standard but yea currently on ebay no black ones
