Air Conditioning And Rear Washer Mk1 Seat Leon Cupra R

Hi,

The airconditioning in my car does not seem to want to stay on....i press the airconditioning button once and the symbol displays on the panel but then it automatically toggles itself back off again...is this normal when the weather is so cold?? Does it somehow know that the air outside is actually cooler than what the airconditioning could do therefore turns itself off? or is mine knackered?? I have never noticed this problem before you see.

Also the rear washer seems to have stopped working....anyone know of any common faults with it, and any ideas on quick fixes?

air con wont come on below a certain degree outside, and the rear washer tube has a habit of popping off..mine is off atm the minute, havent got round to pluggin it back in as the rear casing is an a$$ to get off/on

what you mean as in rear wash casing?? you mean the actual rear wiper?? cheers for the fast response

if you open your boot..the rear casing is the bit where there are two handles, which you pull to shut the boot

I had a problem with my rear washer tube as it had broke and leaked all over the boot catch and electrics, in turn making the car think it was being broken into when locked (that was a fun night!) apperently its a regular VAG part to go wrong i have been told.

my air con is the same, like spudisdabest said its a cold thing, i have read on this site it wont work below 5degC

Im having the same problem on my 01 Leon, Have checked everywhere and its all dry, footwells, door seals, matts! all bone dry! im hoping its just down to the whather, although i did have a new pollen filter recently in the service?

My rear wiper washer has stopped working-thought I'd just got a bit of frozen water jamming it or something, might have to have a wee look in the boot to see if its the tube then...

Believe that if you take the Climate control off of AUTO then you can turn the A/C on, but I could be mistaken.

Had the same problem on my car. There are two joins in the pipe. One where it fits on to the washer motor assembly and one on the passenger side of the boot (behind the plastic trim/shelf support).

The joins just push together, so when the washer jet freezes the pressure in the pipe blows the joints appart.

I have wirelocked both joints together and had no problem since (the trim on the tailgate is a bitch to get off, broke the clips off mine).

as madmonk says, 2 joins in those locations.
However, I'd recommend NOT permanently joining them together, because if it you get the problem again, it'll be the joins in the harder locations and you WON'T want to be trying to get to those to fix them....

with regard to the air con, mine did the same and the owners manual states it will not operate below +5

In answer to your question...

No set way and just make sure you wear long sleeves

My rear washer has also stopped working in the last week!

And the rear washer on my Audi A6 Avant stopped working the week before that!

Both started squirting down onto the boot lid catch.
