Upgrade speakers?

Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading the speakers in my leon. Was just wondering what sort of improvement should I expect while still keeping original headunit. Was thinking of an budget of approx £100, want somthing relatvely basey without using a sub (been there done that when I was younger and besides I now need the boot for the pram!). Any actual speaker recomendations would be great.

Thanks

Darren

Probably been asked already but the focals seem like good value only swapping speakers and looking for a good all round sound not thud thud thud. Would the tweeters fit the existing locations???
And would I need adapter plates.

Apologies if asked a million times already

And following on...and again, apologies if this has been asked, but...

Does upgrading the speakers work OK if you leave the HU as standard? Not sure what the output of it is, but usually some sort of amplification is required, are are these ones OK?

I personally don't have much complaint about the standard ones. The only thing it lacks is a bit of depth, but that's probably cos I am used to my old Kicker 15 in the boot!

If the Mk2 Leon tweeters are anything like the Mk1's in terms of location / mounting points they will be an absolute $hitter to fit. Took nearly 2 hours to successfully mount the tweeters in the front doors of my old LCR, and then I realised the crossover network was far too deep to fit in the door so had to mount it behind the dash (which caused loads of other issues as I had mounted an Alpine iPod converter box and a multi-disc junction connector for multiple changers behind there). That job ended my love affair with self installs and I've never done one since!!!

The Infinitys are 2ohm impedance also, not surprising really, as they are made by the same people.
Try ebay for good speaker deals, there are usually some good deals on new speakers.

Stay away from infinity references, they sound terrible without a sub. No bass whatsoever.
