:confused:Anyone know anything about alpine headunits
Im currently in the process of buying a Alpine IDA X100 (picture at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alpine-IDA-X1...14&_trkparms=72:1689|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318)

I want to thread the cable for it to the coin tray and then i can leave my ipod there however it says that it is conpatible with stering wheel control will this be with a separate module or will it be plug and play?

Right next question I want to connect it to a cheap cd changer that will fit into the resess of the glove box (where my current one sits) will the standard one be conpatible with it?, or with an adapter? if not will an alphine cd changer fit in the ressess in the glovebox.

Right a lot of questions hopefully you guys can help me with some answers!

Thanks guys

for steering control, 9 times out of 10 you will have to buy a seperate adaptor, shouldn't set you back too much, and about the cable in the coin tray, where do you mean exactly, if you mean coming out of the tray, all you would need to do is a quick hole in the plastic underneath it, thread the cable through and lift the side of the centre console up and reach around till you grab it.
don't know about the cd changer sorry :(

any idea about what adapter I would need or where I could find out that information? It says in the listing that it will work with stering wheel control but no mention of an adapter (I thought it would need one also!)

The whole point of the x100 is that you dont use CD's. Alpine X100 is the best ipod headunit money can buy by a long mile imo. Just get your cds on a ipod, much easier and less clutter.

p.s

You can buy that headunit for less than what ebay sells from caraudio direct or caraudiosecurity.

yeah, the scn admin should make me and you I.C.E Mods.

No idea on the changer question mate, could be worthwhile to phone or email alpine, or to just buy it and see!

I wouldn't recommend having the ipod and cable in the coin tray personally. My brother had his ipod stolen from exactly that spot in his car.

The whole point of the x100 is that you control the ipod using the headunit so you can leave the ipod and cable out of sight like in the glovebox, or the little box just by your right knee.

just order my alpine HU,
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-cde-102ri_p-23615.htm

totally agree with the previous post, the whole idea with getting a headunit that you can directly control the ipod is so that you dont need to a) play about with ur ipod whilst driving (dangerous)
b) it can stay hidden and out of site from theiving little $%*£

as for steering controls, i have order a CAN-BUS adaptor and the little alpine lead, however im an electrical retard so am gettin someone else to do it for me.
