BMW 1 Series?
Speaking of that... Look how close this *insert choice word here* parked to me yesterday! I was raging to see the least, you couldn't fit your finger between the two cars, but they wern't touching, but come on!! Of all the spaces left, he choose that one! There were loads left, and closer to the door too! Grrr! If he'd of hit it, I think I would have lost it.

Well I can't say the Cupra TDI is great in the snow but I have driven worse (clio comes to mind).
Unfortunately I've bent the wishbone on my Cupra on thursday night coming home from work and only about a mile from home too.
I was turning into a road that had some slushy snow at the end of it but was pure ice underneath, I was doing <10mph and didn't touch the brakes but the car just slid straight on into the kerb. Nothing I or the ESP could do to stop it.

my tdi fr was awesome in the snow. I put tcs on and got to gatwick but alas we were too late to catch our plane. There were so many cars stranded but we kept on plowing on, I think the key is being in the right gear and subtle constant throttle control. We had like 15" round Epsom downs, it was awesome! We had to purchase another flight the next day but to Tenerife and then catch a ferry to La Palma. We hired a car yesterday and drove up to the highest point and guess what they had snow! Don't think the locals have ever seen snow before

dear god, its crap! Couldnt get up a small hill, tried several times (driven in lots of different cars in snow before) wouldnt have it, then an old nissan micra passed me no 
Believe me there is much worse buddy, a couple of weeks back the snow and ice was that bad people were getting stuck and abandoning their cars, mine was one of the only ones which didn't get stuck, this was in a period of 2 hours. I reckon its your tyres
The amount of BMWs i've seen stuck (especially 1 series) is just silly, that's a much worse car in the snow.

With the right tyres and the right driver any car can be good in the snow and ice, unfortunately in the UK our driving tests only teach you the very basics of how to drive according to our rules of the road NOT how to drive a car! The average person has little knowledge of what to do when the car does something unexpected. We really should have a skid pan test, motorway ,country lane and night driving added to the test.
What makes matters even worse we drive on summer tyres all year round and complain when the car wont grip in the winter!? Summer tyres do not function properly below 7*C, the compound never heats up enough the get maximum grip combined with tread patterns which were never designed to deal with snow let alone ice.
Winter tyres are not just for snow, they are for use whenever the temperature goes below 7*C as they are made from a rubber compound that heats up much faster and reaches maximum grip levels at much lower temperatures than summer tyres combined with tread patterns specifically designed to cope with snow and much more siping (the tiny wiggly cuts in the tread blocks) which enables the tread to open up more and the thousands of edges the grip onto low friction surfaces like ice. Though winter tyres are incredibly inefficient and will heat up to the point of damaging the tyre if used much above about 10*C for too long.
All weather tyres are........................ well.............. useless at everything! They are a compromise; half decent in the summer and half decent in the winter but not good at either and inefficient all the time.

i only saw the light this year after takin the plunge and buying some winter tyres.
like everyone says the difference is night & day.
Had no problems in the snow or with the ice around, u are right about drivers more than the cars being to blame for 'getting into trouble' but sometimes being in the wrong place at the wrong time can catch out the best of drivers!
