Remote Centrol Locking Woes

Yes, I know another thread about remote central locking, but I need advice with my process of elimination. I cannot lock and unlock the car using the fob.

1) The battery has been changed
2) Yes I've tried all the usual methods to recode
3) The key is transmitting because the alarm is activated and deactivated by the fob
4) The central locking works fine

Where do I go next?

you say the alarm is still activated and deactivated by the key fob? so when you press the button what happens?

When I unlock the door with a key the alarm remains armed, if I turn to unlock again the central locking unlocks all the doors.

If I open the drivers door after one turn of the key the alarm sounds, when I hit the unlock on the fob the alarm stops.

right I understand, it definately is a bit of a confusing one. I would imagine your next step if not done already is to get it on a diagnostic?

what year is the car ? and have you tried locking and unlocking from the passenger side (if it's not blanked off)

check 'all' the doors and boot lock/unlock too

2001 (Y) Passenger side is blanked off (PITA).

All doors and boot unlock fine with central locking, just not with the fob.

bugger :) they always are when you dont want them too be - just thinking from another side it might reveal issues with the drivers door lock assy switch as they are common to pack up

physical key will manually turn locks and set up locked mode so looks like it should be ok - if switch faulty would make ecu think door was open and inhibit the locking

actually - check all the interior light switches work good too

sounds daft but gonna be trial test and error a little bit

Cheers for this Flapper, you've got me thinking logically now.

OK it seems that both front doors will control the interior lights. I have noticed that the drivers side rear light is no longer working.

Door opened:

Driver - front interior and rear passenger come on
Passenger - same as above
Diver rear - front only
Passenger rear - front and rear passenger lights come on

I'm guessing that there is something wrong with the rear drivers side internal light, possibly more than just a bown bulb as the alarm sensors are housed in there.
