Alright guys im quite new at this and been having a read over the past few days I my self have the Cupra 1.8T 06 plate, followed in your footsteps and bought a large cheapo cone filter and it works a treat! Just wondering i like yourself left the lower part of the air box in because I was thinking the intake pipe should deliver cold air into it, is this a good idea or am i a bit delusional? Also Damo what did you use as a support? Ill try and get some pics up of my car but not sure how and i dont think im allowed being a noob and all!

I have still got my air box in and it seems to be ok after a week + it supports the induction kit. Not sure if it could damage anything becasue the air is comein from the front of the car.

You can leave the airbox in and it will support the filter (if there was no addition support like you get with a KN filter) But it will look a bit poo IMHO. You can just leave the pipe coming from the front of the car in place and it will do something, but not much!

Damo what did you use as a support?

I made a 'L' shaped bracket and bolted it to the bolt hole for the airbox.

IMO I would remove the airbox and make a bracket to support it as the filter will be bouncing on top of the airbox and coild damage the MAF due to vibration.
