Why did you push the K1 around all day? Was it out of fuel?

I can guarantee that stock vs stock, an Astra VXR is no quicker than a TFSi Cupra. Tuned vs Tuned on the stock turbo, the Cupra is going to kill a VXR stone dead in any performance test.

Why?

A £500 remap on a Cupra gives more power and torque than stage 3 modifications on an Astra VXR (exhaust intercooler, cams, remap, intake etc etc)

Warwickshire once.
I have driven both the Cupra and the VXR, the VXR felt no quicker than the Leon.

I know I would never buy the VXR as I just couldn't trust it to behave on any road with cambers/potholes/etc.

Would you let your Misses drive a car that powerfull that you cant trust it to go in a straight line when you press the loud pedal?

i know that for fact mate are cupra does sister in laws vxr as we have had them off the lights down the a34 side by side and while the vxr was strugging with grip i was away about 4th gear he was about a car lenght behind not that much but enough not sure about top end as i stopped at well lets just say 6th gear 5000 revs

I've driven both the VXR and the Cupra although a couple of years apart (drove one of the first VXRs at the end of 2005).

It was quick but due to the torque steer felt as if you would crash it if you got it wrong in the wet. The Cupra was a very steady car.

Took a Cupra round the track on the SEAT track day and it was very very impressive what the car can do.

The VXR is too common as well, there are at least 2 near where I live (within 1/4 mile) I've seen less than 10 Cupras on the road in 18 months and one or two K1's.

I know a few lads with VXR's in various states of tune. One stage 2 car makes circa 260/270bhp which is only a little more than a stock cupra with regard to numbers.

I have driven the VXR in the wet and like stated in an earlier post it was a ticket to A&E, you didn't steer on the roundabout you just put your foot down and torque steered off.

Bearing in mind when I had the K1 it was slushy and snowy I was impressed with how driveable and well behaved the K1 felt, but also how rapid it was.

I am so tempted - if I worked closer to home........the FR seems a little sluggish all of a sudden :(

Sorry mate but this must have been the guys playing with you or something. The new cupra is leagues ahead of the LCR, even a remapped one. The MK2 Cupra is similar to a remapped LCR in speed but a remapped cupra with exhaust, uprated fuel pump, CAI and stage 2+ map is verging on the super car teritory, no ****.
Its awesome.
Find someone that wants a race and can drive there cars with a remapped MK2 and see what happens. I'd put a £5 that you will be the one behind with the VXR trailing aswell. Not even close.

Aren't some people on here pushing 350+ bhp at the moment on a modded Mk.2 Cupra?

I've seen proof of a remapped stage 2 cupra with the above mods mentioned in my previous post getting 360 BHP and 352 ft-lbs on a RR that the same car had been on 4 time during its developement. This car is amazing and when it gets traction car make a fools of some very very serious motors out there.
The engine is one the VAG deveklopers should be very very proud of, the only unknown its its longevity with these states of tune.

funnily enough i had a run in with an Astra VXR a few weeks back. He was on it as i saw him closing fast in the outside lane so i put my foot down from cruising(70ish in 6th) and left him floundering in the outside lane all on his lonesome. Each time he had a go i just drove away from him. Iv,e been told it was stage 3 but haven,t seen him again to confirm it. Saying that it did go very well up to 3 figures then seemed to die.

The Cupra/K1 is one of the most over looked and under rated Hot Hatches around.

I whips the VXR and ST. I tested both, the ST feels heavy and the VXR seems lazy and detached in the bends........

Against a Renault Megane R26 it many struggle in the twisty bends thats only becuase of Meganes LSD, but off the line or on the motorway, it cant compete, (I used to own a R26) in terms or accerlation and speed, the K1 has it...

I now have a remapped K1 and not many cars ouit there can keep up with it... manyly because the torque is massive and it has over 305 BHP in understated looks, its a giant killer, and the exhaust at high revs when hot, is simply awesome....... and plus is a 5 door, that makes its a good family car lol.

My advice is the Cupra/K1 all the way, and plus u dont seen to many, ive not really seen another K1 in swindon yet......
