My 04 cupra failed today on:

rear disc.......fair wear and tear
both "D" arb bushes worn.....as above
both front "shock inserts" excessively worn......bstards are only 5 month old coilovers ?from Hot Tuning:censored:

**************

Anyone know what size the arb bushes are, I hear there are 3 sizes !!
Anyone changed a pair and how hard is it?

Did they actually show you the problems on the car and do they seem genuine?

Just wonder if it's worth taking somewhere else for a 2nd opinion as it seems a lot
for a 2004 car to have these problems. Is it high mileage?

I think they mean the actual shock absorbers themselves, they showd me up on the ramp
The top and bottom of the shock was solid but when you move the wheel the shock seems to wobble...dodgy

The car has 39k, they are a good bunch, have been going there for a few years.

I thought the bushes were a bit ify as they creaked after the car was lowered but I didn't realise it'd be an MOT failure

The whole lot wobbles or literally just the shock? i.e. does the spring move with it. Sounds like possibly top mount? Although a mechanic wouldn't confuse the 2 I suppose, weird tho!

I think the hot tunning comes with 2 years warranty??

If you have the OEM ARB bush on a LCR is 19mm, on a cupra its 23mm. Item 3 foir a cupra and 3a for a LCR.
These aren't too difficult to change but getting the clamp bolt back in and tightened up is a proper PITA.

Yes but 2a and 3a for an LCR.

Does the coilover 'wobble' at the top when it has weight on, or just when the car is jacked with wheels off the ground?

The car was up on a ramp, raised to the wheels aren't touching, and they are solid at he top and bottom........seem to wobble in thr middle ! They shook the wheel as if checking the bearings and you can see the shock move, however they are tight at the top and bottom.....

As for a reciept or what make they are I don't know as I got them 'new' secondhand from a member on here who had never fitted them.

Right so I want the larger 23mm bushes for my LC, nice one

Gonna get the coilies taken off and see if they can sort them, otherwise stick the origionals back on and hunt for some new ones.......great!
