Big brake Kit

Any one have E.C.S 'porsche' Big brake kit on thier cupra/ frs?? Or any similar brake kit?

I do think the std cupra brakes are brilliant, think i just have shiny parts syndrome and have the spare cash... I will hope fully be going to the ring ocasionally as i live i germany.

Bearing in mind they may be high maintnance. and replacemnt parts are mega expensive.
I pay £220 a go for Ferodo DS2500 pads on my AP's.

Im not sure about those, but mine are recommended a refurrb every s often,ive just had mine refurbed at a cost of £220.

just making you aware as its come a bit of a shock to me the price for replacement parts.

Hmmm Yeah this is true. uprated discs and pads would be a cheeper option.

They would be cheaper......but not cheap!!

I priced them up and they are about £300+ for discs and £120+ for pads.
They should help lots around the Ring tho!!!! pardon the expression.

I said it wrong, if you modiefied the engine and use the power, go to circuit or race with the car, they are not good enough. For somebody who only drives to work or church, they are good fine . I know that people here dont like D2 racing, but who didnt try them cant say nothing.

The stock brakes are ok to a certain extent for fast road purposes. I just find them to be too over-servo assisted and a lacking feel. They stop ok, but pedal feel can be a bit on or off.

They either don't feel like there doing very little, but when you press a bit harder it's like an anchor gets chucked out the back. No in between.

I'd like some up-rated calipers but can't justify the large spend at the moment. I might get some alternative fast road pads, get the brake lines changed to braided and change the brake fluid to see if it helps in the short-term.

Those look pretty good. The whole car looks great to be honest.

Really like the back end with the painted valance , reflectors removed and de-badged.

found this when i did a search for D2 brakes. They come in a nice purple caliper. there are also some other brakes at reasonable prices.

I'm currently looking at tarox 6-pot or 4-pot brembo conversion.

Stay with original if you can't afford a proper big brake kit from Brembo (not the junior kit), move-it of stoptech (but there are more). Porsche or RS4 calipers are nice too.

D2 and K-sport 8 piston calipers work really well but only the first few months. Heard and seen how these look after only one winter and took the conclusion they are only good for warmer places.
The quality of the aluminium isn't that good and they are badly finished in a way that one winter with salt on the roads will end the life of D2's (no guarantee).

Seen this with several sets end this way so no D2 for me.

bullshit, unfortunately I have to use my car this winter and in prague they use salt and other shits already 3 months and my brakes looks still same. I did already 20.000 km and I full sesion of racing ( 10 racing weekends ) and now I will change first pads.

I bought them from company which modified only mitsh evos and owner instaling them almost on every evo

these brakes have one problem, pads from d2 arent very good, so I have better from begining.

Im thinking RS4's but if you have loads spare I can show you some really nice stuff!

Unfortunately this is not correct or we might have cought a large series of not so good finished calipers (the purple paint comes off really easy).
Three sets of the seven sold didn't survive last winter (including a few rides to the alps with German Road salt). In our regions the government changed to a new version of road salt that reacts heavily with bare aluminium (all of the damaged calipers showed white aluminium powder while dissambling and got damaged beyond repair (all within six months after fitting).

(same happened with a set of K-sport set and some of the aluminium parts on K-sport dampers)

It's a pity since their price is really good but in the end you get what you pay for. D2 brake really (and indeed ferodo will improve the performance) well and we have a new set riding around that was completely stripped. powdercoated and mounted with special grease and this is holding up for over a year.

And for RS-4 calipers (just front or complete), just keep an eye on Ebay Germany. New sets are offered at a regular basis (just front calipers starting at 750, including pads/dics 1200 Euro's and up (all brand new), front/rear complete with all fitting parts, discs etc. starting at 2100 Euro's and up).

Good calipers to look for at the same place: 6 pot cayenne calipers. Managed to find several sets in mint state so far for approx 500-600 Euro's.
