The heaviest mk4 is 1.2 tonnes. Isn't the 136bhp Volvo a diesel?

Yeh- the newer ones.

I was looking AT stats, all pretty much had 1,600kg?

Unless I FAIL at maths, 1000kg = 1 tone? If not, please tell me to shut the **** up!

Anyway, this 2.0l petrol is regged at 136hp, or 140 rounded up. It feels like its got plenty of power for me, for a while tho. It drove like my dads 2.4D 140hp Volvo. (so he says).

5th gear, 50mph, pickeed upto 70 seamlessly. (No more than half throttle either.

edit:
Gross Vehicle Weight 1637 kg
??
Searched google:
1000 kg is equivalent to 1 metric tonne.

Yea 1000kg = 1 (metric) tonne. My car is 1177kg, the diesel Cupra is the heaviest at 1215kg.

One of us is wrong here.

The specs I checked showed 1.6 tonnes - were your specs from?

My figures are from the Seat brochure and Parkers. Parkers also says 135 lb/ft torque for the S40 2.0 CD. Sorry, just looking at figures and noticed :)

AHH! Cheers. Sometimes I hate dodgy specs, some right, some wrong [:@]

Engine Size 1948 cc
Cylinders 4
0-60 mph 9.4 s
Power Output 140 bhp
Valves 16
Torque 183 Nm 135 lb-ft
Top Speed 127 mph
Weight: 1300. There we go :)

Roughly the same performance wise. Would of liked 300nm though :p

Why would you choose a Volvo as your first car?

Fair enough it might be quick for a 17 year old but I'd laugh at my mate if he bought one... sorry.

1.2 Corsa/Fiesta/Yaris/etc for me at 17 any day...

I need a proper car. Not a heap of **** like those small hatchbakcs tbh mate. Been there, had them, driven a few others. Got into Bigger and more powerful cars.

Thaught "What a load of crap they were" I do plenty of motorway driving too.

I would expect you to laugh. I would be the one in a far better, faster, reliable etc car. :) It isn't even my first car btw.

And to be honest, I think a smart looking Volvo (not the acient or crap designed ones) are better than any modified corsa/saxo/pug. I think a lot of cars look better than any modified sterotypical chavved up boy racer crap. If it's subtle mods, its ok. I never modified my first car.

All in my opnion and experience, ofc.

Wait, you're 17 right? How many 'heaps of ****' have you got through in less than a year? I think you're a bit inexperienced to write them off like that.

SHould of explained.

Yeah I am 17, but I have test driven a few of them, and my mates have a circle of pugs, saxo's and corsas. I just dislike them. (bin in, and driven a bit)

I finally choose a swift cause it was a laugh - and no-one else had it. I like to be different.

I just like the feel of a bigger car. Don't know why, just do. I'm weird. :)

Inexperienced to write them off like that? (only actually wirrten off 1 car in literal terms, and only crashed once) True, but I have driven many of the 1.4 and 1.2 engines etc. Don't get me wrong, I was tempted by the 1.9 TDI Hatchback, just rather expensive, that was the only thing!

During learning to drive, I drove the 1.2 Corsa, the 1.6 Corsa, Two types of 1.3 swifts, and 1 Vovlo 2.4D.

I liked the Volvo more. And it was my dads lol

Afterwards, I tested a few others. The pug pedals are too small! Saxo, even worse! Size 11 feet (but my feet are slightly wider than normal)

It's probably down to my high expectations. Terrible, I know! Also, my size probably doesnt help the hatchback parade - just 6foot, wide build and used to do weight lfiting at a gym, couple that with my Large foot size 11/12 (depending on shoes) and wider foot, they just seem hard to suit me.

imo ofc, others im sure have different opinions, but I have too high expectations and I cant make it budge. It's like my heart is telling me something my head is saying something else. I'm just an oddball. lol

I dont have a Corsa, I had one for 2 years then sold it and now have a Fabia vRS - remapped, RARB, coilovers, 312mm brakes.

Goes like stink.

Fair play mate. Things like that, subtle mods, on a pretty quick car, is apserlutely fine. :)

my old mans is a 2000 2.0 SE. Its a nice relaxing drive, good for comfort and good build quality, but I dont think it inspires confidence at speed!

for everyday driving I would take the volvo too. Ibiza is alot more fun at speed and corners though!
