Joel has got it,

Go get a exhaust done, local which doesnt cost half as much and then the rest goes towards a H.U

Im sure the SMIC will love it.... Not. You wont get decent power until you do alot more than just a remap, exhaust and a filter, you will a intercooler, better air intake and after all that how usable will the power be without decent suspension, brakes, clutch perhaps even on the petrol?

but full stage 1 for £650 including exhaust is a fantastic compromise. There is no issue with running a SMIC with a stage 2 depending on how you drive. Planting and leaving it planted at 100mph 5th gear might give you some issues. But stage 1 shouldn't have any problems what so ever, so many people run stage 1.

Everyone will always have differant views on what is useable power, as everyone has a differant way of driving.

Oh yeah mate, I agree with you, I dont even have a H.U in mine :D

However its alot like when people map diesels, some say you need a better clutch others dont!

neither do i :) i personally think that standard in the FR is reaonablly good unless you want bloody ears

i looked at an IHI conversion yesterday, and only then do you need a new clutch to handle the power for the petrol, i think the reason people talk about new clutch in diesels is because of the massive torque increase, i guess it is all down to preferance in the end, personally for £650 i would go for the full stage 1, including the cat-back, cheap if you ask me, over £750 for a headunit. :)

Do you already have a remap? If not then full Milltek is a waste of £700+. Stage 1 will be fine with standard exhaust and Forge recirc valve. Get a cat-back to get better sound. Then when you want to go Stage 2, get turbo to cat-back exhaust, Forge TIP and FMIC. Almost all remap companies will say to get a FMIC as the SMIC just won't get the intake temps down enough to take advantage of it and you prob won't get above 220bhp

Audio first all the way, well worth the money in my opinion. Just so many little features that you didn't think you needed that makes it a more pleasurable journey :D

e.g. Remember in parents car, tomtom on the windscreen and radio playing, tomtom says a direction and no one hears it because of the radio. Pioneer = automute :D

Always sort out the mechanical befor the asthetics!! I have done the Longlife full exhaust on previous car (Vectra - Don't hate me) and never looked back. If your H.U. still works then put up with it until you can afford to do both.

Only because we can't really make a significant difference with performance bits :D
but even with a quick car, still would say audio :D

Could use the subs to blow air out of the back, and inturn push the car down the road?:lol::lol:
