Just had my renewal through from MoreThan (last year).

The best of thw swizz this year is as follows:

08 Price £298 incl breakdown, legal, and NCB protected excess £250, with the Mrs on there

09 Price £555 excl breakdown, incl Legal and NCB protection and excess go up to £500, excl the Mrs

Rang them up to be told the "The System" works it out, went through it all again with the guy and it came out at the same price and they wouldnt insure my Mrs for no explainable reason.

I under stand that this bloody credit crunch is affecting the under writers and that there will be some increases but come on MoreThan nearly double???? :ban:

Flexed my fingers and spoke to a few happy people and just signged up with a very happyful lady at the AA.

£296 incl euro breakdown, legal, NCB protected, excess £150 and with the Mrs on there. Best of it the under writers are the same as with MoreThan (Royal Sun Aliance). This price included 10% of as got the home insurance with them.

Anyone else had the same grief with MoreThan??

Good price, But my 20vt Fr is going to cost me just under £200 Fully comp with all the trimmings :p

With regard to the excess, Think of it like this, How much would you be prepaired to pay to get a parking ding (that you did) fixed without going through your insurance? This is the amount you should set your excess at.

A slightly higher excess will bring the price down even more.

I am currently insured with MoreThan cos they were my cheapest option last year round. It was something like £600 fully compy (im 20) and i got the exact same quote off them again this year round and they've refused to insure me!!!

I was with More Than and rang up for my renewal this year. Was told they no longer insure the FR as it's a group 20 or something and there insurance ratings had changed. I was fuming!

WOW £200 for a FR TDi!!!! Im paying £900 a year. But then I am 20, and doing a high milage. Next year (21) it should come down a bit I hope.

If you are refering to me, it's not an FR TDI, it's an FR 20VT petrol. The one that's a lot more expensive to insure unless like me you have 20 years no claims bonus.

So why are the petrols more expensive to insure, ive always assumed that it was because a diferent type of person would go for a derv, eg. not your boy racer type. Is there much diference in performance between the 2?

I think that's the reason...more sought after (ie. stolen), image, tunability etc.

not bad. i pay 700quid fully comp on two cars. one of which a 20vt FR. im 21 with 4years ncd both with Directline. which i think is pretty reasonable:D

im 23 pay just over 700 fully comp and have 5 yrs ncb im being ripped off saying that theres been quite a thew accidents on my road, with my insurance i put that i drive about 8000 miles a year but the insurance states that then says your insurance will only cover you for 50,000 miles a year nothing after work that out contradiction or what.

Revo is no longer on the car had it mapped back to original, which was a hard choice. Had too much ear ache from the mrs about it.

It wasnt declared before though.
