Been keeping an eye on this all day...Cracking start for the Skoda boys, Hanninen is a star of the future that's for sure..

I know he's in a Peugeot but Kris Meeke is doing a solid job so far... Still a long way to go! Kris is a top bloke and I'm glad he's finally got a break to again show the world what he's capable of..

Watched a bit earlier on there. I like the S2000 cars, they sound much better than the WRC cars with their anti-lag systems. Proper Monte weather as well! :D

Shame that Skoda have had some bad luck today, but an impressive debut performance all the same.
Ought to be thinking about getting that new vRS out, hey guys?

Proper snow stages and they had ice crews running ahead of the field. Now if the IRC can do that, why can't the WRC?! Shame Hanninen and Meeke are out. The lad Ogier is going to be a world champion sometime soon I reckon.

Should be good tonight, live from the Col Du Turini. :D

I'm hoping to go to the Rally of Scotland in November after seeing what this is like.

Be well worth the trip up to scotland for the IRC round.

Gutted for Kris and Paul, slid out on ice! I'm lead to believe that it was the same corner that caught out Hanninen as well!

He was flying in the Skoda! Good to see something else out front giving Fiat and Peugeot a run for their money..

I'd spoken to Paul Nagle last night (Meeke's Co-Driver) and from what he'd mentioned they weren't pushing to hard, just trying to drive withing theselves and to the conditions.. They had a good showing it what really is a local speacilist event..

Ogier will be another Loeb... Well what do you expect when he has backing from the best manufacturer in rallying at the minute and funding from the French Federation as well... Goes along way to showing up the MSA and how useless they are!!

I bet Skoda have had more exposure in a few days of this event than they would have done in the WRC, where only the top few cars and drivers are likely to be shown, unless they crash.......

I do like Kris Meeke, you can see what Colin McRae saw in him when he used to mentor him. Crashes a lot sometimes, but then when he puts in a really good performance like Germany last year or the Monte this week, bad luck denies him a strong result. Good to see Peugeot UK putting their faith in him.

Use the following links to keep up to date with whats happening, both have live timing.

And there's highlights on the IRC website too. That's how I caught up with Day 1 and yesterday's live stuff. :)

Good to see that Proton are going to join in as well and hopefully we'll see more MGs and Corsas from MSD as well this year. It's going to be like the F2 days with the big variety of cars out there.

Is the WRC switching to S2000 next year. If so will Citroen and Ford and maby even Subaru be competing against Skoda, Peugeot, Fiat and Proton. 2010 WRC could be brilliant if this is so..........

S2000+ I think it is. Meaning S2000 cars with a bolt on turbo.

The IRC's got some good events though and they're not scared to run in the dark!

2009 last season at current spec
2010 transition period, based on S2000, most likely as said Turbo bolt on?
2011 reverts to S2000 spec although this may not be as current spec.

current S2000 cars all use the same French built 4WD system poss. g/box as well?
so will this still be the spec? as i understand it S2000 was designed to cut costs & get other manufacturers involved.
so far there have been Fiat/Abarth, Peugeot, VW(south africa i think?), Toyota tested one & Rover on tarmac events last year. Skoda have now joined but at moment it still leaves only 3 manufacturers albeit with more higher spec cars than WRC.
if you want to see WRC cars then Ireland has more WRC spec cars in their championships than the WRC, go figure ??
