Welcome to SCN. I don't think there is much you can do to a v5 to be honest. You can get a custom made exhaust and a custom remap to go with the exhaust if you want slightly more power than a remap alone gives you. No point in getting an induction kit though as the standard induction is the same as found on larger engined VWs.

Not done anything to it yet as i can't afford to mod until my renewal/get a full time job. I'm just going off what i've read on here. I think 167 bhp is about the normal figure you can expect from a remap alone. I must admit i think the v5 is a brilliant engine to start with. It has the torque of a diesel, the smoothness of a petrol, and a nice engine note when pushed that little bit more.

There's a guy over on the VW V5 forums, John @ DSN, who does remaps for the V5's and most people seem very pleased with the results. Did think about it, but have to admit as the previous poster says I love this engines power delivery even as standard and was told by a revo dealer the remap gains aint worth the bucks.

remaps

F1btn will do a custom code remap and quoted a 10% gain in torque and bhp which seems to be a pretty standard increase. I did find a place in cambridgeshire that appeared quite a good increase upping bhp from 150 to 174 but i cannot find the email at the moment to remind me who they were. I could find out if interested?

AmD are the most tried and tested company for remapping the V5 as far as I can see. Had mine done for a few years now without any issues at all. You'll never get much more than 20 bhp extra with remap and exhaust (I only had remap). Such gains do not make a night and day difference but it was still noticeable and the power felt more usable. Here's my charts:

Ok, lets get it right, there are a number of companys out there , that will do a re-map for you, but at the end of the day, it is the cost of it, especially if you are on a budget, most quote £350, but had mine done for £150, money well spent in my eyes, response is better, no flat spots, better on fuel, i still notice the diffrence, who did it for me, check out KEWES thread above, Johns the man from DNA, don't think you'll get it cheaper and it works, when somone wants £350 off you and tell them you can get it for £150, they just come out with the BLAG, to get your money off you.
