couldnt you just turn the ignition on while your sitting in the car, it always works for me, leave it in the "run" position, save yourself all the hassle.

yeah i was thinkin that too, just click the key once and your sorted, its the same as having it able to come on when the engine is off, still flattens the battery eventually too lol

That might sound like a sensible and logical conclusion but with the ignition on you are using lots more electrics than just the radio, try it yourself for a few minutes then see how hot the ignition coil is. ;)

Nice one chaps, I've eventually gone outside to the car and sorted most of the radio problem.
I've swapped the wires around as suggested and now have radio with ingition off. :)

I've purchased the autoleads ariel booster too, but can't see where the wire connects to though. It says socket 5 on the ISO connector but I can't figure that one out as a lot of them are blanked off the other side or have no wires running the other side. It probably says what wire is what in the car's user manual I guess but I'm buggered if I can remember where I've put it!!!

As you can tell, it's been a very very long time since I last changed a car radio and I'm sure that was a lot simpler then too, just replacing a VAG suppplied SONY with an Alpine that simply involved swapping the fuse over in the socket on the back of the HU.

The blue wire on the Autoleads Signal Booster connects to the remote/power aerial wire on the harness. That is usually blue or blue with a white stripe.

Thanks. How does it connect on though as it just has a female connector thingy on the end? Oh and there are quite a few wires with blue on coming out of the loom to the ISO!!!
