ticking noise coming from engine

hi all has anyone had any exsperiance with a ticking noise comeing from the engine of there leon cupra if so could you shed some light on what it may be.

Its the Carbon Filter and completely normal apparently.

Search and you find a couple of threads on it.

Phew, I'm not the only one then lol! Thought it might have been tappets or whatever but the ticking is only faint so I didn't bother to research it, but now I know

nope i had a ticking noise and it was the belt tensioner....

To be honest i'm not sure how anybody can say its definitely 1 thing based on a description of a ticking noise, so many possibilites. It would depend where the noise is coming from on the engine, if its a heavy or light ticking noise, if its rotational, if its just at a certain engine speed/load..........

its on the left hand side of the engine bay and u can hear it on tick over

i had mine changed, think it was fairly cheap...

I got told it was the (Active Carbon Filter/Collector)....he said this was normal....

i took the sound absorber off bonnet and sat on idle i thought i was getting a poorly engine coz of this noise lol..
sounded like my pistons where rolling in the sump

If it is on the LEFT of the engine bay (when standing outside looking at it) it is most likely to be this Carbon filter.
It is the same on many VAG engines
