No mate, no need to jack it up, i just used a jubilee driver. Has a bendy shaft so you can tighten the jubillee clips on bends and get some much needed torque to tighten it up. Others have used a ratchet with a 7mm (i think) and plenty of extenstion bars. As youv probably read, taking the air filter housing off, have all clips at hand and check your turbo for side to side movement. Running your finger in the turbo housing, you may find some oil, just run a bit on the inside of the turbo end of the TIP, easier application. Just stick with it and watch that MAF.

Don't leave the jubilee clips in a place that its difficult to tighten them up once all s back together again incase they work themselves loose and you have to retighten them.
Also don't tighten these too much or you'll split the hose

i found it much easier to fit with the car on stands as you can get the base around the turbo easier, get someone to feed the tip down to you on your back and put it round the turbo inlet, tighten the jubulee round it(thats the hardest part), be careful not to loosen or knock any hoses etc and take note where the pipes go.

took me about half hour and thats with a moaning wife whining it was cold.......
