Hi all, changing the brakes on my cupra in the next month or so and would like to fit 256mm rear discs if possible. Has anyone on here done this on a cupra before? I remember hearing about alot of golf owners doing it (dont think it makes much of a braking difference but i would like the discs to look bigger on the back as the 19's dwarf them at the mo.
Presume they use the same calipers on the rear of the cupra as the LCR but prob need a carrier?! Any help or advise appreciated.

PS Happy new year to you all aswell

You will need the discs, carriers and the calipers too as they are wider than the standard solid disc ones. You will also need a few other things to go along with it. DannyFR has had the work done at our place recently.

Yeah guys i had this done at awesome (top class service and staff!!!!!)just before christmas,

The parts i used were :-

mk.4 golf anni rear calipers and carriers from vagparts

I used CRN discs (you need 256mm diameter,22mm wide discs, i used audi TT ones!)

pagid rear pads but never got the shim plates (which i was told should of been with the pads and has caused me nothing but grief trying to get some, awesomeandy will second that its been a mare).

The discs you need will be TT ones that defo fit, but if you check the sizes on the mk4 golf anni and skoda octavia VRS they should be the same (I think not 100% on that)

If you do a search there is a thread that says what calipers you can use (I know mk.4 golf anni ones are a direct replacment thats why i used them but think also octavia VRS and Audi TT do but you may need a shim to get them to fit, You'd need to check this to be sure as im not 100%)

I did this conversion with octavia vRS rear brakes. I got calipers, carriers, discs and new pads. Fitting is simple enough, everything is bolt on including the brake hoses and the handbrake cable is the same.
The only modification is to the splash shield at the rear of the disc, some people cut it and bend it back, I just bent back it until it cleared the bigger disc.

I can't say I noticed any difference in braking but they look better behind alloys :)

cheers for the info lads. Il get the fronts replaced with Porsche calipers first and then change the rears. Take it that all skoda octavia VRS have the 256mm as standard!?

Yeah all the vRS's have the 256 vented rears, only problem is the calipers and carriers are green....I striped mine and painted them silver.

How much do you reckon i should be paying for just the calipers and carriers then (found a guy breaking a vrs 02 plate and he has said make me an offer!)?

Not going to bother with the discs as seen an offer on new grooved discs front and rear (312mm and 256mm for £180 with redstuff pads (wont use the front pads but will use the rears)). DS2500's on the front me thinks.

I paid £100 for discs, pads, calipers and carriers from a crashed vRS last year, so maybe £60-70 for the calipers and carriers? Offer £50 and go from there :)

Same rear pads across the range, cupra and cupra R use the same pads.

As for the shim plates, I removed them from the oem pads and used them on new pagids.

Neil.

did you just cut the original shim to fit around the new vented disc?

I'm talking about the plates on the back of the brake pads, I reused them from the originals.

As for the splash shields, I just bent them back so they didn't rub off the bigger vented disc.
