Slightly off topic, but as stated I currently use Quantum Synta G0ld... can you recommend a better oil

Synta g0ld is a fully synthetic 10w/40.

Certainly on a par with other leading brands on the market, no worries there pal.

I have this on my old 106 i would say head gasket my self, just hope it is not as this a a lot to fix. The part is cheep but takes a long time to fix.

cold starts and short journeys = emulsified goop

byproduct of combustion is water.. which emulsifies with the oil as it condensates.

Slightly off topic but reminds me of the good old days when I was on a Rover forum - and from the renowned head gasket failure of the K series engines, threads like this were pretty much the mg-rover.org equivalent of the whoosy dump valve threads here on seatcupra.net haha everyone was like "been covered before use the search" hehe
