Looks nice, but then so do all the Leons. :)

I just with though that they'd release versions with the 1.8TSI over here. It's been available in the Ovtavia now for quite a while and also, I believe, on European spec Leons. I'm sure it would sell well in the UK since the 2.0L FSI was dropped.

Leon Linea R?

Hi, noticed the desktop pic for 2009 of the Linea R & wondered if anyone knows roughly when it may go on sale over here?

Fair enough take your point matey, but it just gave me the impression that being a desktop pic for 2009 that it was a forthcoming model, current hot topic or 'happening' model for the Leon range in 2009.

it was the first I'd heard about it but what appeals to me about it from reading the info is that it comes with all the stuff I'd like to add to it as standard & it frustrates me that you have to fit your own steel pedals for example to even an FR before they look sporty. If the FR's sell so well over here & people are willing to fit their own pedals & everything else (going by the enthusiasm shown on this website by the good members) the Linea R seems like the model they should have released here in the first place & the obvious choice.

I personally don't like the FR's mock diffuser too much as I think it's too big & it looks like they ran out of ideas at the back as much as it's meant to look more sporty & I do 'get it' so to speak.

Also I agree with people who think that the FR looks to similar to the standard Leon.

Oh well, ho & indeed.. hum.

This is what threw me. Think it's the bit in particular when it says 'the new Leon Linea R' that got my expectations and hopes up...

There is definitely a facelift model coming out in May 2008 (I spoke to a Seat sales person at my local dealer today).

And I DO think the Linea R will be this facelift model...

I hope so anyway, as like you demonear, it's exactly the spec I want - without having to add loads of extras to it afterwards!

It would be good to see something like this in the UK. We much be one of their best markets for sporting SEAT's and lately it feels like SEAT's going a bit Ecomotion. There was so much passion for the brand when it had sporting pretentions people (myself included) were leaving VW out of pure respect for what SEAT was achieving with the same parts bin. Now it all feels like its going a bit Pete Tong. It would be nice to see some well specced hot hatches from SEAT as there is some fierce competition on the way.

I totally agree coxw. I'm no expert, but in the short time that I've shown an interest in buying a SEAT Leon FR TDI (I've been to the BTCC where my interest started) they seem to have lost touch a bit with the UK market as my understanding was that it was VAG doing more exciting looking & sporty appearing cars. The new Ibiza looks horrible for a start & I expect the new Leon to be in the same wrong direction. I may be proved wrong but I'm glad I waited before buying one & I'm already looking at other cars by other brands as they appear to have dropped the ball a bit.

When I saw that desktop it reignited my interest considerably in buying a Leon but if I have to rely on the facelift model picking things up then I'm not holding my breath..

cheers again

demonear, it's just the Aero kit that's been out since the dark ages nothing new

I know that it's mainly the same in immediate appearance as the fully installed & paid for aero kit but there are subtle differences hence people trying to get hold of the parts like the front section. I just can't be bothered having to fit things like steel pedals afterwards & they don't even let you choose that when having it factory fitted or whatever.

Surely also there will be subtle differences in the interior but we'll just have to wait to see in May or whenever!

There's no way that the facelift 09 model (be it a remixed or standard Linear R model or whatever) will just be a current Leon with an Aero kit on!

got all excited when i saw the 2009 desk top, thought we were getting a new cupra-r:cry:

does anybody think they'll make another cupra-r, seeing as Seat is supposed to be the sports range of the VAG group.
