Coilpack death.

The coil pack of cylinder one went today. AA man had be back up and running within about 15 minutes of it going. Which was nice.

Then asked for £40 for the coilpack. Which wasn't so nice. Poooo

Coil packs are covered under a 5 year warranty so best not to buy them, just try and limp to a Seat dealer :)

This is good advice. I wish i knew this... I also wish my car wasn't more than 5 year old lol

Ah fair enough, the years soon add up..there must be alot of mk4s that old now!

Think google shopping has found me coil packs for £15 each. This was late last night so i didn't book mark the link so will have to find it again. But i can recomend to anyone with more than 50k on their 5yrold+ to buy some on the cheap and hide them in your boot. £40 for a coilpack is abit of a rip off me thinks :(

At least the £40 one was prob a genuine VAG one. I paid £28 for a VAG one for a 1.4 from VW dealers. There are often cheaper (made in China) ones on ebay but they have been known to fail soon after fitting, although others have had no problems. Suppose it's ok as long as it can get you home..
