Where to start!

As its a new car to you what you need to do is have a proper check around the main components of the engine bay, start with the basics first.

Check;

Air filter is clean
spark plugs clean and intact
HT leads ok
Dizzy cap, pull off, clean points and check carbon rod, renew if needs it.
Coil, check for cracks, small scoring or white dust.

Other really important things are the air pipes and various vacuum hoses, make sure none are broken or cracked (easy to detach these accidentally, especially ones on air box).

After all that worth cleaning out the throttle body and using a good fuel system treatment.

If it is still the same it will probably be the ecu temp sensor which sits on the water pipe just above the dizzy, only about 15 tops from a dealer, they can cause some issues.

Finally, if all that doesnt solve it perhaps timing may be slightly out.

check all the basics first and see how it goes.

thanks will check temp sensor have already checked the usual suspects as you said above also noticed that some one has cut huge holes in the bottom of the air filter box sounds like an induction kit but this can not be doing it good lol thanks will check it out and let you know have also run forte injection cleaner though it

Hi mate,

mine also feels like this....when its cold it feels faster than once ive been driving it for a bit. I think for the most part its in our heads and it just feels slower when its not.

when i had mine RR'd the engine was hot after a 40 mile drive and it gave me 155 bhp.

Re; Gears

Could be a loose fitting somewhere on the gear stick attachment, probably need to get the car on ramps to have a look underneath.

id try and find a new airbox mate lol, i think you can get repair kits for the bushes on the gear linkages if they are anything like mk2 golfs... which they are..

gear linkage just needs adjusted, unless its really really bad, its done at the point in the engine bay where the linkage comes out of the bulkhead, get a friend to hold the gearstick tightly in neutral, slacken off the bolt in the engine bay and move the gearstick a bit at a time to fix it
