Ordered... £255.54 GBP fully fitted less than a mile from home

2x goodyear eagle f1 Asymmetric

Just done a tyre thread myself and this was the verdict I reached, as it happens the website it the one I saved in my favourites too..... although, I’m not looking to buy for the next few weeks.

Any reports of what you think of them would be great, also if you get a few mins spare would it be possible to upload some pictures (emphasis on the rim protector)? This is one of my main priorities.

Thanks
Scott

Read up on these. Falken FK-452. Do not be put off by the name, they will outperform most tyres that are supposedly high end. I had them on my last cupra and they will be going on my K1 soon. They also look great.

Had these on my mk1 cupra were pretty good , reasonable on price too , only downside was i came from toyo proxes tr1's and they were not quite as good , but on price performed well.

I also agree about the asymmetrics, have just fitted a set to my new cupra. I am now thinking of selling my mint gunmetal Golf GTI mk5 monza wheels fitted with the Pirelli PZero Rosso tyres with just 1200 miles on the tyres, the wheels not been used, if anyone interested ?

I have tried all the goodyears, pirellis etc and the best tyre I have come across so far is Avons new ZV5. They only cost £90 each fitted. Im not a fan of Avon normally but I was recommended them by a tyre fitter that I know and Im really impressed. Dry grip is as good as anything out there and wet grip is better than my old goodyear assemetrical tyres. They get good reviews in independant tests as well.

Like you say, avons are popular in the states. Strange for a British made tyre!. The new ZV5 is a real step forward. The old ZV3 would be better on a wheel barrow.

What about Dunlop Sport Maxx or Velderstien ( I'm looking at both to replace mine) Both did well in EVO's tyre test and they used a Golf MKV as the test mule.

U.K.
I changed from the Sport Maxx to the new Toyo T1-R's and they are loads better. I would have gone for the R888's like we have on the TT but have to drive in the wet sometimes!

I'm also very pleased with the Toyo T1-R's which I had fitted to my new 19" BBS CK's:D:D

Tyres need to bed in a bit, and this slippery cold weather will be no help to taking the 'glaze' off the tyre.

I collected my wifes brand new Lupo from the dealer a few years ago, and it had been very icy. Car had been to RSD before delivery for full colour code respray, and had been put onto Wolfrace Voodoo's with 16" tyres brand spanking new. I got half way to our village in Banbury and slid on a corner straight into a mini ditch at the side of the road. Clocks were at 21 miles!!! No dents, just a new front bumper skin (resprayed), and the two nearside alloys had to be refaced. I was savage, but then I should have been more aware of the black ice on the road. She was chuffed to bits!!

Be incredibly careful until you've had the chance to wear them in or it could cost you dear.

I have 2 goodyear eagle f1 Asymmetrics on the front and find that even when they have been bed in they still need to be warmed up a bit before giving them some stick!

I,m going for Dunlop sport max TT next. They come with rim protectors and i have seen them in action at the Ring in both the wet and dry - was mighty impressed. 2 new ones are £204.
