Flip key question!

Hi, done a search and am I right in thinkin that as my leon's key is a hella 433mhz, any VW flip key with 433mhz can be coded to my car for the locking and ignition??????
and has anyone done it????

me too.... ive got the spare flip key from my old mk4 gti... looks new cuz it wa never used.... obviously have to get the flip out key changed.... and a dealer to code it???
would like to have a flip key as the key i got with my Lc looks like an old mondeo key...

yea the frequency is exactly the same, the fobs them selves are the same part number. if you get it cut to your key number and then coded in at seat dealer it will work fine. thats what i have done, got a seat badge for a blank vw key flip key i got off ebay and swaped it over, once codded in works like anyother.

part number for seat badge is 1M0 837 891 A JGT if anyone needs it

can get p/n for keys and stuff you need if anyone needs it aswell

I used the spare flip key from my old Superb, got a blank plate off ebay and had it cut then removed the transponder from my spare Leon key and put it in the flip key. Takes some patience but all works great. Apart from the boot button, but hey you can't have everything.

The blank key was about £10, cutting cost another £10 and flip keys are on ebay for between £10-20. you need to cut the transponder out of the glue in the old key, quite tricky because its glass and if it cracks its game over, then just stick it in the new one. Then you need to code the buttons to open the doors, there are a few old threads on it and how to do everything just do a search and you'll find'm.

Not game over as such as it's only £6 for a new transponder. However you will need someone with VAG-Com to code it for you, only if you have the vehicle SKC code. If not then it's a dealer job and they'll charge around £30ish to code.

Ok, game over was a bit dramatic, but i wouldn't want to spend another £40 quid.

Most dealerships will tell you they can't do it because it won't work, also some of the freqencies are different depending on where the key comes from, like i say, there are guides on here for doing it!

the new key "should" come with one its just if you manage to swap them over then you wont need to get it coded in to the car by dealer.

well i got told my my local dealer who i am friendly with....
put one key in the ignition with it on then open and lock the oor woith the new key by turning it in the lock and voila your key is coded
but duno if thats right

The procedure to code/sync the central locking part of the key is in your car user manual

There are three bits to the security of the key.

1 the actual metal bit of the key - blanks of ebay or dealer and cut by a key cutter
2 the remote central locking - in your manual or search SCN
3 the engine immobiliser chip/transponder/thingy - thats the little glass thing you dig out of a non-flip spare key.

Part 3 is necessary to start the engine.

iv wanted to do this just to code my standard key as it lights up but doesnt work the doors, followed the manual but wasnt any use, the car had none of it, will have to get a flip key and get it coded by seat, easiest option i rekon

if you take the transponder from your spare key you dont need to visit seat.

Has anyone found anywhere to get a blank blade from except ebay? All the dealers tell me that the blade comes with the top part of the fob.

Also some key places wont cut these sort of blades, some of them you might have to sweet talk!

£30 quid ish? Thats quite cheap.

I went through this whole process, but got stuck at the coding to immobiliser step as I dont have a spare key, or my SKC number. And reading through the forums it mentioned that IMMO3 type immobilisers must be coded through a dealer, who would connect my car to some sort of Seat database. How true this is i'm not sure.

I have stumbled across a place that help people locked out of their car. They have quoted me around £60 though for just the coding. Might go to another Seat dealer and see if they can better the quote.

Well im at a bit of a loss lol, bought a button fob off ebay, had the key cut etc, all fine and dandy apart from it turns out iv bought the wrong frequency key!!

Mine is 433 and bought a 434, just acquired a 433.92 and that doesnt work either dammit!!!

Cant find a 433 for love nor money, any advice, iv tried fleabay too!
