Hello All, i've just got a cupra tdi and the rubber on it is not so good(falken) so i thought that i could change the wheels at the same time.
so do the 225/40/18 fit with out rubbing, or am i stuck with 17's and better off getting decent rubber 215/40/17
thanks Matt.

Hmmm 18" will go on but will be a pain to get to fit right and look right as it will have to be very low and therefore probably need your arches rolling or trimming in some way.

In my opinion and probably the opinion of 90% of people on here will be....................................................................

Go for good tyres on the 17" wheels, if you want something different then maybe get the wheels re-finished a different colour or something.

not sure what to do now.. my initial though t was 18's as there is loads of room round the 17's but was not sure of rubbing at full lock. no need to worry about suspension travel as there is none.. am very supprised that you say i will need to have the arches rolled though. as for the ride i didnt think that the weight increeces would be that great to make a great difference.

was thinking of some AEZ or DOTTS or maybe some rs4 rep's

might have to be back to the drawing board now though..

thanks for your replys so quckly.

Going 225/40/18 from 215/40/17 will screw everything up including your speedo. If your going up in wheel diameter you lower the tread width and profile. If you want 18" wheels you should fit 205/35/18 or 215/35/18 no larger, by doing this your over all profile will not have changed so the speedo will be correct and no arch rolling needed etc. See HERE
